Frang -- this was a Twi'lek expletive. (LFCW)

Schutta -- this was a Twi'leki swear word, used to indicate a being of poor repute. It was derived from the name of a weasel-like creature native to Ryloth. (JQ)

Worm Head -- a derogatory name given to the Twi'Lek race. (TOJ)

Descriptive

Brightsick -- this was a Basic term used by the Twi'leks of Ryloth to describe any being who was driven temprarily insane by exposure to the planet's harsh sunlight. (SBS)

Chir'daki -- this Twi'leki term is translated into Basic as "deathseed." These small spores come from a parasitic fungus, and they invade a victim and destroy it from within. (BW)

Head Tails -- the two tentacular appendages that are found growing from the rear of a Twi'lek's head, these head tails serve a number of purposes. First and foremost, they are a source of vanity, as hair or feathers are to other races. They are also used in a silent form of communication among individual Twi'leks. The head tails also serve a ceremonial and sensual role in the dances performed by Twi'lek females. (ESB, MTS)

Lekku -- the Twi'lek name for their headtails, lekku was the plural form of the term lek. The lekku of a Twi'lek were used for many things, among them communications and the storage of memories. Lothan Twi'lek & Lethan Twi'lek -- one of the lesser races of Twi'lek, the Lethan Twi'lek is distinguished by its deep, reddish skin color. (IG1)

Wedgan'tilles -- this is the accepted Twi'leki interpretation of Wedge Antilles' name. In this form, it translates to "slayer of stars." If pronounced as "Wedge'antilles," the translation becomes something akin to "one who is so foul that he could make a rancor vomit." (KT)

Jasshi'rr -- this was the ancient Twi'leki ceremony of Marriage. Rumors had it that a wondrous crystal skull was carved from the crystallized ashes of a fallen Twi'leki hero, and was used to preside over the ceremonies which recognized clan marriages. (SWJ12)

Protocol of Gifts -- this was the phrase used top describe the custom of the Twi'lek society in which a visitor always brought a gift for their host, as a sign of friendship and in exchange for their hospitality. The custom originated early in Twi'lek history, when different clans first met. Over the centuries, the Protocol of Gifts has been extended from personal meetings to business gatherings and the arrival of a starship to a port such as Kala'uun. Head Clan -- the group of five Twi'Leks that leads their community. Their length of leadership is defined by shortest lifespan of the five members. Nercathi -- this ancient Twi'lek clan was known to have created three beautiful crystallite skulls to comemmorate a long-dead hero. Each skull represented one of the primary Twi'leki tenets - Jasshi'rr, Waala, and Keysshi. Bright Lands -- A name given by the Twi'leks to the side of the planet Ryloth that is perpetually facing its primary star. (WEG, TEP)

Death Wind Corridor -- this smugglers' hyperspace route connected the worlds of Ryloth, Manda, and Roon. It was named by the Twi'lek smugglers who used it as a "back door" to bypassing the Hutts. (WOTC)

Junkard -- this section of caverns, located within the Kala'uun Starport, was set aside as a scrap heap, where spacers could scavenge for usable starship parts. Anything from complete speeders to worthless power converters could be found in the Junkard. The operator of the Junkard, a Twi'lek known only as the Seeker, took almost anything in trade, but prefered machinery which could be used to mine for ryll spice. (PSPG)

Kala'din -- once a sister-city to Kala'uun, Kala'din was the site of an ancient ryll mine. After its hidden location was sold to the spcie merchant Brophys by a Twi'lek named Kroh'dalla, Brophys enslaved Kroh'dalla and forced him to mine ryll. After incredible amounts of ryll were extracted from the city in virtually no time, Kala'din collapsed in upon itself, killing Brophys, Kroh'dalla, and everyone who lived there. Kala'din ceased to exist, and became the subject of a Twi'leki fable whose moral was, "Once a secret is revealed, it spreads until the truth above is destroyed." (PSPG)

Kala'uun Starport -- this Rylothian starport was under the control of the Shak clan at the height of the New Order. Like all Twi'lek settlements, it was located on the terminator line between dark and light sides of the planet, gaining a measure of warmth from its position. However, due to the crosswinds created as the cold air of the dark side mixes with the hot air on the light side, approaches to the starport needed to be handled with care. This danger was further compounded by the fact that Kala'uun was dug into the heights of a huge spire of rock, part of the formation known as the Lonely Five. A Watcher was in place at all times, to ensure that an oncoming heat storm was spotted before it could do any damage to the Starport. Deep in the bowels of th Starport was a huge cistern, that held all the water needed to maintain the facility. (KT, XWBT)

Leb'Reen -- a city located on the planet Ryloth, Leb'Reen was only accessible by flying through a narrow canyon rift before settling some 500 meters into the landing area. Fenig Nabon and Ghitsa Dogder once employed Shada D'ukal and her partner, Dunc T'racen, to transport a cargo of Twi'leki dancers to Durga the Hutt. They met the Mistryls in Leb'Reen, and picked up the dancers there as well. (TFNR)

Naps Fral Cluster -- this area of the galaxy was located between Ryloth and Nal Hutta. The Karazak Slavers Guild often kept a few ships positioned in the Cluster, hoping to intercept ships transporting Twi'leks from Ryloth to Nal Hutta. (TFNR)



Things

Chall -- this yellow-colored substance was a strong poison developed by the Twi'leks of Ryloth. (VD)

Crystallite -- this white stone was often used to create wondrous carvings, for the stone seemed to glow from within. Rumors held that crystallite was formed from the ashes of a long-dead Twi'leki hero by the Nercathi clan. The ashes were supposedly compressed under extreme pressure to form the crystals,and the crystals were used in carvings which comemmorated an ancient Twi'leki hero. Each carving, representing the skull of the hero, stood for one of the three Twi'leki clan ceremonies - Jasshi'rr, Waala, and Keysshi. (SWJ12)

Fungus Ale -- this beverage was fermented from munch-fungus by the Twi'leks (PSPG)

Glekk -- a Twi'leki unit of measure, it denotes a finite area. (TJP)

Gruuvan Shaal -- this was the name of a traditional Twi'lek food. (FOP)

Lyaer'tsa -- this is the name of the traditional Twi'leki weapon used in armed combat. It is a tall, staff-like shaft with a vibroblade at the top. Tradition demands that the lyaer'tsa be used to inflict non-lethal injuries. (XWBT)

Munch-fungus -- this edible form of mold was found within the caves of the planet Ryloth, and was the basis for many Twi'leki dishes. (PSPG)

Rycrit -- a bovine creatures raised by Twi'leks. (SWSB, JS)

Sleep-inducer -- this wrist-mounted weapon is favored by Twi'leks. It is a close-range weapon which is jabbed into the target's flesh. A small trigger releases a sleep-inducing fluid into the victim, knocking them unconsious. (THG)

Staad Armor -- developed by Castaan Armory, this form of protective armor was designed for the Twi'leki race. (GUN)

Story-chain -- these small chains were created by the Twi'lek race. Each link in the chain provided details on a specific part of a larger story. The entire story could be told and retold by following the links in the story-chain. (VF)

T'ssolok -- this intense, Twi'leki liquor was bottled in a sculpted decanter. Thaddeus Ross often drank a bottle of this liquor whenever he felt that hislife couldn't get any worse. Some beings worried that the taste of the liqour would be awful, but it was actually the aftertaste the floored most drinkers. (SWJ15)

Wrist Vac -- this Twi'leki weapon is worn on the user's wrist. When triggered, the wrist vac releases a number of small, high-velocity blades that at the target. (THG)

Boona -- a common name given to Twi'lek males, this name referred to an angry giant from Twi'lek mythology. (GCG)

Inun -- according to Twi'lek mythology, this blind youth once crossed the bright side of Ryloth. (GCG)

Mala -- according to Twi'lek mythology, Mala was the mother of Nolaa. (GCG)

Nolaa -- according to Twi'lek mythology, Nolaa was the daughter of Mala. (GCG)

Swilja -- this was the name of a beautiful princess from Twi'lek legends. (GCG)
