Yeah, this one slipped by me too.
Here's the link:

Nutshell:
- a few scenes had to be redone in CG because the actors weren't available.
- he's colocating all of his business empire inside the Presidio, former military base (pricetag $350 million)
- He says "No." to Episode 7. (/cry Could have sworn we all heard "Yes" at some point in the future with another director *shrug*.)
But then a future saga wouldn't necessarily have to be called Episode 7...maybeee, like uhmm Episode 1, Series 2 !...
Or past stories before Phantom Menace surely wouldn't be Episode 7.
There's still hope!

I refused to watch due to media blackout and ran through the kitchen with my fingers in my ears going, "LA LA LA!" during some clip they were playing. When I explained what "media blackout" was, I think my parents finally decided I was crazy. Then my Dad and I had this conversation:
Dad: So do you wish your dad was GL?
Me: What?
Dad: Heck, it'd be cool if any of our dads were GL.

Maybe when he dies, at least our children would be able to see Ep 7, 8, and 9... :P
then again the community may be able to crack him...

I have to admit, I can sympatize with him about wanting to take a crack at other projects. I watch American Grafitti, which he directed before Star Wars and I can see how nuanced his eye really is.
We know he's got more than a knack for visuals, but without special effects he's got a very subtle style that's still powerful. Sergio Leone and Ridley Scott have that similar touch. Less emphasis on dialogue, more on effective visuals.
So, I can see how that "eye" would be hungry for other stories to tell.
Whatever his first future non-Star Wars/Indiana Jones project comes to be, I'll be in the theatre.
edited: to reference Blade Runner and Alien visuals for Ridley Scott. The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly and Once Upon a Time in America visuals for Sergio Leone.

This is nothing more than classic reverse psychology viral marketing.Keer wrote:- He says "No." to Episode 7. (/cry Could have sworn we all heard "Yes" at some point in the future with another director *shrug*.)
There's TONS of people who felt burned by the first two prequels, and have sworn off seeing Ep III "no matter how good it is." Saying "this is it, folks, the last hurrah, I'm never making another SW movie, again, ever," is a way to try and eke out a bit of a "reminder" for those fans, and get them to change their mind.
"Well, it IS the LAST SW movie to ever appear on the big screen."
He's just saying this to maximize the number of people who will be seeing EpIII in the theater. It has no real impact on if he's going to make 7,8, and 9 or not. In fact, the day that ILM starts hurting for a bit of change, you can bet real money 7,8, and 9 will get made. They're sure-fire cash cows.
Lucas has been back and forth on the "nine" Star Wars movies for so long, that the only thing you CAN believe is that there are in fact 9 movies to be made, and that he will, eventually, make all nine. I say this because he once adamantly said he'd never make another SW movie, and there were only 3 of them at the time.

I have to echo X'an's sentiments here...
Didn't ol' George say that the original trilogy would NOT be relased on DVD as well at one point? I distinctly remember that line.
I bet he starts another one.

I agree with X'an GL is a sale-out and just because he say no new ones after this doesn't mean there will be no new movies. Heck all he said was that HE wouldn't be making an episode 7. That doesn't mean he wont let some one else make one (man I'm reading to much Wheel of Time to be nit-pickin that statment). Lets just hope he doesn't write or direct any Star Wars movies or Star Wars related stuff. Hell lets hope he donst even have a hand in it. If his investers are wise they'd put him in some conner to make his "indi" films (sorry but thats a big joke to me) will they get some one good to handle the Star Wars stuff.

Uh, the problem here is that GL doesn't have investors. He's the sole owner of the franchise. The buck stops with George.Jerrel wrote:If his investers are wise they'd put him in some conner to make his "indi" films (sorry but thats a big joke to me) will they get some one good to handle the Star Wars stuff.
