Thats what I was calling all the afghani's, when I wasn't referring to them as hadji, and no one got it. I think its because they were all stationed in italy before coming to afghan and missed southpark.

To further enlighten there are two possible explainations for the origin of the name "Hadji" that the US service personnel have dubbed those from SE Asia.
The first has to do with the Hadj. This is the religious pilgrimmage to Mecca that all Muslims are supposed to take at some time in their lives. A person who has taken this journey is then dubbed a Hadji.
The second and more plausible, at least in my opinion, reason that they are called Hadjis goes back to Saturday morning cartoons/Comic strips. In the Cartoon Johnny Quest there was a man of Indian descent, I believe, that was named Hadji. He was the sidekick to the dad that wore the wrap on his head.
You choose the reason that you think best fits. I did however find it odd that on Saturday mornings when we went to the Bazarre, dubbed Hadji-Mart, that the tent displays would have banner's above them that all had the word Hadji in them. They also had a bunch of strange arabic that probably said "You dumb Americans buy our shitty pirated DVD's that most of the time don't work and..." But I digress.
Anyway, I wish I had taken more pictures of that and well... I should have paid the $5 to get my picture taken on top of that camel. But the people around it smelled so bad I couldn't imagine what the camel smelled like.
Interesting sidebar. You could not buy Camel cigarettes in the PX there. They had every brand but them. That is my preferred choice when I choose to smoke. Oh well, guess they didn't want to piss off the local national workers on post.
