Bah... Canada

I'm sadly disapointed that the anti-American feeling has spread from France, to Quebec and now further west into Ontario. It's probably because they didn't have anything to do last year with no hockey season.
There's a good book out there by John Gibson called Hating America: the New World Sport it dives at the root of why so many countries hate us. The root cause for Europe and Europe light (Canida) is that they feel they are culturally superior to us and hate the fact that our culture really dominates the world stage.

Yes I'm famliar with them, and I completely agree with their opinion in regards to Europe. Those countries have been around for hundreds of thousands of years. They have paintings and tapastries older then our country and so yes that breeds a great deal of resentment.

However this is not so much the case for Canada, it's more a culture clash and merely viewing issues from a different point of view. They hate our prosperity more then anything else. Having lived only 60 minutes from the Quebec boarder and having been a frequent visiter to Canada I've witnessed this first hand for the majority of my life.

They put a bunch of dudes on the beach for D-day, didn't they? Yeah, it wasn't Omaha, but they did their part.
Yeah, Zannon knows more about it than I do, but they took a bunch of Canadians from logging country and put them up against the Germans in WWII, and if I recall correctly, the Germans would retreat when they saw them. They thought we were sending giants their way.

The mayor of Toronto needs to get his facts straight before he starts blaming the United States, that's all.
No they're not fond of aggressiveness. That doesn't mean they don't fight when they have to though, I mean you're talking about a world war, many people would argue that there was no choice and that if the free countries didn't united and fight against Germany we wouldn't have had a chance.

I'm just saying that they prefer to take a diplomatic stand and would rather debate the topic in the UN or any other international platform then take action.

The US on the other hand (and frankly I'm glad we do this) see it as our job to keep some people accountable. And when Sadam continued to break UN agreement after UN agreement we decided that something had to be done and so we did something about it.

I'm not trying to bash the Canadians by any means, frankly other then those in Quebec as I've said they're good people. I'm just trying to explain how our difference in foreign policy and financial standing in the world have caused a bit of resentment there.

And Toronto is following what a good many countries do. Everyone wants to blame us because we're the last remaining super power. It's practically prophetic that all this is taking place.

Anyone see the news stories, 2 of 'em, about NM legally concealed gun carriers saving women from being killed by ex-husbands? I haven't seen the stories, but have heard a lot about them.

As for the guns, a sherrif told me once that he would rather see someone with a gun attack a crowd than someone with a baseball bat do the same. He said fewer people would die. I dunno.

As for the envy of the US, it is easy to envy AND bash us... we don't hit back...until they do it with more than words.
