The Client

One thing that can make being the client more entertaining is by going with the 'bring in alive' option. I had this done on Oeree, and we had some good RP come out of it. (Which reminds me, I need to hound him for that report).

Nyase has a good point. By trying something different and clever as a client you can make it fun and interesting enough for yourself to justify the cost. Maybe a sticky with a few bounty examples is in order to give folks some fun ideas and make them want to be a client.

Some suggestions/examples of my own:

- Bring a mark in for interrogation, help with the interrogation itself
- Fake a bounty to bring a certain person in alive while making others think the mark has been caught and killed
- Post a bounty on a Krayt requesting the bounty hunter bring you its scales

The 3rd suggestion there has some possibilites as something different to include in the BH system. Clients could use the BHs to retrieve items or resources they need (like Krayt Scales, Giant Dune Kimo Scales, Woolymander Scales, Gurk King Hides) in addition to hunting marks. That way the client is simply paying for the item at an additional cost for a BH to get it for them.

This is similar to something I did a while back and plan to do again. I placed a vendor in Jabe's old Imperial guild hall and dressed him as an Imperial officer. He was an Imperial Coordinator. On the vendor I placed a data disk (a FAN from a slicer) and its name was a URL. The URL took you to a webpage that described the mission the Empire required you to do. This mission might request you find an item or complete a quest. It was something fun to do for a while but we had no traffic in town and not many takers. Somthing like this might work for BHs within the system.

Interesting. I don't know why I didn't think of the loot retreival idea. Maybe I'll take that up so I can finally finish the bloody ris armor quest.

On a side note, mayhaps clients could even perhaps buy out BH services as temporary bodygaurds/escorts. I know I've been wanting to do the rebel theme park for a while with my crafter character, but with no combat skills that leaves me rather SOL. Mayhaps hire a temporary body guard to assist witht he issue. I mean, even jabba paid fette a bit extra to stay in the palace with him for a while.

Good idea, Nyase. I know I had two "bodyguards" taking my crafter Cista through Jabba's theme park. The BH system would be a great tool for that or even orgainizing group hunts. I mean group hunts are fun enough as is but if you add the RP element and this system they become A LOT more fun. Say you just want to go on a Krayt hunt and need 3-4 BHs as backup or you want to whoop it up with some friends at Fort Tusken and give the Griefing Kill Stealers there a hard time. The possibilities are really endless.

Side Note to Nyase: If you want Gurk King Hides for that RIS armor come see me. I have about 30 or so on hand. All I need for myself is Giant Dune Kimo scales and a good master Armorsmith.

Maybe add 'Bodyguard' to the 'Mark', 'Client' and 'Hunters' list?

I like all of these ideas. Before I wasn't opposed to the high payouts, while it may have been a burden to some I think most players could easily come up with 200k with solo-grouping, now that this has been changed maybe a revamp should take place.

Maybe the system should have a salary cap system. Lets be honest in that most of us know what the marks skills are and can go to a ranking system as Seret had brought up in the very earily stages of development. When listing your character as a Mark you can simply put the difficulty rating in. 1 Elite Combat Profession Difficulty Rating +2 Novice Combat Profession +1 or something like this.

As a bounty hunter I can say I'd be greatly interested in the "bodyguard" aspect of the system as well. The only problem for getting the client a little more involved is simply timing. And being able to meet up, I'm sure we've all had problems with attendance for events and things like this but it is a good idea if the client could meet with the hunter after the bounty has been filled. And it maybe more rewarding as well if (as has happened in some cases) there is an IC post somewhere explaining the situation of what went down. I find these very gratifiying.
