You could do that too. I'd feel safer experimenting on a toon on another server. Do you really want your main to discover some new bug? What if Basic can be unleanred but can't be trained?

Sounds like it could be interesting though.

I wonder what the basic in gibberish will look like. I'm willing to bet that there is no gibberish for basic so even though you "Can't" understand it, you'll still be able to.

Mystery solved. I went and made a disposable character on Bria, human so the only language known was basic. After getting to Tatooine I immediatly typed /surrenderSkill social_language_basic_comprehend and speach. Sure enough when I checked my skills box, both basic speach and comprension were gone. However, walking around a little bit, I found i could still fully understand people talking in basic, as well as speak it myself.

Then I asked someone to teach me languages. And the first language box that came up was 'Basic comprehension', then 'basic speach'. It was titled "Human language" which I thought was interesting. Apparently if someone already has the basic language skill, as most races start out with, as well as their own native language, then the option for basic just doesn't show. But with my slate clean as it were, the option for Basic was available to teach.

Eh, I'd surrender the languages, but I decided it was more befitting that my character knows them. It's much easier to maintain order and control when you're able to understand the citizenship without having to go through translators whom might misinterpret something. That, and someone has to translate for Col. Raggs.

True, because when most people speak it just comes up as garbled letters (not that I'm complaining). Now if only they would have given that ability to a protocol droid to target one person and repeat what they say in basic.... (ok, now I'm going to start complaining).

And off topic, every time I see your sig Tramel, makes me want to log on and try to find some good screen shots.

I was going to make you a sig one day (I made one for all of my chars), but I didn't get around to it, then my drive had to repair itself and in the process it wiped out all of my screenshots.

I know I have some copied to my file server, but it's probably not even half of the 650 or so that I had.
