Need ship stuff

Well my alt Cista is now a Master Shipwright (and so is Zannon but he's away) so if you need anything send Seret or Cista an e-mail in-game and I'll fill the order as quickly as possible. Some resources are in short supply for us right now because of the grind but we're currently restocking those resources as best we can.

Basically I need to dump all my components on a SW for re-engineering and see what sorts of goodies come from that.
Does re-engineering cost a SW anything other than time?
Would it be smart for a SW to have an RE vendor where people can dump their components and pick up the re-engineered ones? I think that could be a very useful service (but then again I know nothing of the work that needs to take place to accomplish such things).

Its costs resources to make the tool, and its limited uses. 11 I think.
Problem with reengineering is that 80% of what people want to redo is crap. If your gonna redo something, try to mix the best of both worlds in it.

And what are the best of both worlds?
Heck.. what are the worlds?
If people want to do stupid things, it is more than likely because they do not know any better.
As a tailor I spent a good chunk of my time explaining how bio-engineered clothing and skill tapes really worked. I am sure shipwright will be no different, if not worse.

best of both worlds means speed and manuverability or protection and recharge as well as damage and recharge...or armor and mass.
If you get two items that are high in one and low in the other...then recombination can be extremely good.

The question becomes, though, what dictates which stats stick?
For instance lets say I have 3 engines that I want combined, one with a top speed of 77, one with a reactor use of 1100, and one with a mass of 1200. They are all level 3. What's to stop something like High hit points from sticking on one of them?

If I'm not mistaken, it takes an average of all 3 and applies it to the new engines. So the better your engines, the better the total upgrade.TramelRaggs wrote:The question becomes, though, what dictates which stats stick?

An average?
By my understanding of math, you cannot get anything that is any better than the best item you RE if it truly takes the "average". Is this right or am I misunderstanding you?

yeah, your understanding is right. What you do get is a 2% bonus to the highest quality item.Ekade wrote:An average?

After messing around with reverse engineering I honestly say so far the parts are not coming up roses. What I mean is all that I reverse engineered turned out to be less desirable compared to the crafter parts. For example an Engine I looted and RE'd came up with almost double the mass, a much slower pitch and yaw speed and only slightly better in some of the other stats. I'd compare this to a VK motor you might loot with less Min/Max damage than a crafted one only it has a higher Wound chance. In other words the parts I've RE'd thus far are junk.

You think that this may be due in part to the SWG "player crafted must always be better" philosophy folks? I'm not sure but maybe the space gods want the cream to come from direct player efforts and experimentation?Seret Sajet wrote:After messing around with reverse engineering I honestly say so far the parts are not coming up roses. You may be right, Keer. My guess is space loot parts are directly relative to ground loot parts. Most of the time the space loot is going to be comparible if not worse to the crafting parts but I'm guessing that once and a while certain parts you loot in space (since they all have specific names) will shine above crafted parts. I guess we'll just see.

I think you hit that on the head. Most of the stuff I have looted has been garbage.. except for my reactor.. lv1 with 13450 energy. Better than the lv3 player crafted stuff I have seen so far.

I believe there is going to be some great stuff thats better then we can craft but it will be rare soft of like Ceka's reactor.
