question for anyone who knows...
Do people in prison get to vote?

I think they do as long and they are not serving time for a federal offense.

No. Neither do parolees and some criminals lose the right for life even after they're out. That might vary in other states outisde of IL though.

That is an interesting question given the controversy in Pennsylvania. Apparently, the party will remain nameless, some people went into prisons with a bunch of absentee ballots and had them filled out with ABSOLUTELY NO SUPERVISION. This is a prison that holds CONVICTED FELONS. If you are convicted of a felony you are no longer allowed to vote. You forfeited that right when you committed your crime. If you have been convicted of a non-felony you are still allowed to vote by absentee ballot.
Another tidbit is out of Philadelphia where the voting machines are ALLEDGED to have had some 1500 votes prior to the polls opening. It will be interesting to see what happens with both these cases but I can tell now its gonna be a long night for Pennsylvania elections.

Yes and no.
Felons do not get to vote. However, due to overcrowding in some prisons and jails. You can end up serving time in a prison for a misdemeanor.
You'll be separated and all and you'll only serve misdemeanor time, but the actual building is a prison.
So technically yes to your question, IF you happen to be the crook who was unlucky enough to get extra shafted... in the house of shafts.

so Felons cannot vote...hmm...interesting...
I guess voting is one of the rights that ISN'T inalienable.
Isn't it weird how Driver's Ed teachers (for those people who were lucky enough to live in a state that REQUIRES EDUCATION PRIOR TO RECIEVING A LICENSE...(missouri sucks)) talk about how driving is a priviledge because it can be revoked, but voting is a right? Maybe I am wrong on this, but I could have sworn that voting was labeled as a "right".
Now don't et me wrong, I don't have any problems with pederasts not being able to vote. I just think its kinda...I dunno...quirky. Like the rest of our legal system.

When you are convicted of a felony you no longer have the same rights as a law abiding citizen, nor should you.

Gunna get personal. Beware.
I went and voted today and felt pretty lame. I got the ballot and looked at it, and felt like I was sitting down with a semester exam that I hadn't attended class for all term. There were people running for President I hadn't even heard of. Not to mention, there were tons of people running for judges and some amendments to the state constitution that I had no clue about.
This is my own fault, being an uneducated voter. I should've started looking into this stuff more seriously awhile ago instead of like, last night. So, I made my vote but I feel like it's kind of a lameass vote.
I've never really felt a great attachment to "America" or associated greatly with patriotism but for one day way back in my childhood, and I had kinda thought being part of a larger body doing something for the country would've done something...but I feel, at this point, a complete failure at my first chance of like, "making a difference"...because I can't say with firm conviction that I knew entirely what I was voting for with my two little bubbles I filled in, and I didn't entirely know what exactly all the other candidates were running on.
And the cookie they gave me got rained on when I was walking back to the car. That didn't help.
