Top 5 worst TV Shows or TV Specials...

Dallas Reunion airing tonight, funny you mentioned that show.

My parents let me watch some "grown up stuff" when I was young and I have to admit, I liked Dallas & really liked Dynasty.

I'm sorry but I'd always liked good story characters wherever I could find them even then. And J.R. Ewing has to be one of the best TV bad guys ever written. Well acted by Larry Hagman, too.

Wow. So many of the shows you guys have posted here are things that I indeed have fond childhood memories of. Batman, Land of The Lost, The Banana Splits. I bet some of those would be downright awful when viewed as an adult.

I dunno about Dukes of Hazzard tho. If I run across that on TV now, I'll still watch most of it. I still get a kick out of that show for some reason. How can you not love Roscoe? "Cuff 'em and stuff 'em Flash!"

My Top 5 Worst TV Shows (in no particular order):

1. Thundercats

I always somewhat liked this show as a kid. However, I ran into it somewhere recently (Cartoon Network maybe) and watched it. I literally couldn't watch it longer than five minutes, and was left feeling ashamed that I'd ever liked it. The corny dialogue, the TMI in Lion-o's spandex crotch, the white trash guitar riffs...dear lord it was horrible.

2. The Star Wars Made-For-TV Ewoks Movie

If any of you never had the misfortune of seeing it and are curious, check your local Blockbuster kids' section. They may still have a copy of this (the one by my house does). GL wasted no time cashing in on the popularity of the ewoks amongst the kid set. I was maybe 9 or 10 at the time, and I distinctly remember being left in charge of my 5 year-old cousin who LOVED this shit while the adults did grown-up things, and she'd invariably ask to watch it (recorded on Betamax no less, heh). She never got tired of watching it. I had to have watched this movie with her a dozen times, and it was worse each time I saw it.

3. The Fox version of "Doctor Who"

Image

It just wasn't cool at all. Not even a little bit. Except for the very first scene where Sylvester McCoy gets blasted on by some Crips in an alley. That made me laugh.

2. Johnny Quest

Image

I HATED this cartoon more than anything else in childhood, yet I always watched it when it came on. Have you ever hated something so much, and yet couldn't look away? That's how it was for me with this show. I hated Hadji, I hated Bandit, I thought Johnny Quest was a pussy, and there was something not quite right about Dr. Quest and Race (if you know what I mean).

1. Anything called "Star Trek" not starring William Shatner

Image

I LOVED the original Star Trek as a kid. Every attempt at reviving it just pissed me off. Star Trek had a formula that couldn't be messed with for every single episode: Phasers on stun. Kirk sucking in his gut long enough to kick some ass before getting winded. Hot, scantily-clad 60's chicks. I found every new incarnation of "Star Trek" to be over-moralizing, and lacking in both action and underdressed hotties. In fact, the only thing that ever got me to watch any of the new Star Trek shows was Jerri Ryan's borg-breasts seriously testing the limitations of her uniform. And I still thought that show sucked bawls.

Let's see......Favorite and worst. Think I'll start off with favs, the ones recorded that I still have on VHS sitting in my room.

Captain N.

The guy got sucked into his nintendo an essentially lived in a video game. who wouldn't want to do that?(Unless you sucked at the game and got game over all the time)

Sonic the hedgehog.

Not that crappy, one with the poor animation, but the good one that came on ABC. You know, the one with Sally and the gang. Now that I look back on it, Snivly reminds me of Admiral Piett with the way he looks.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Great show, up to a point. I forget the season number, but you could tell the crap episodes apart based off what opening they used. The classic opening was the best though.

And being as I can't remember any others, on to the crapfest.

Scooby doo.

I've hated this show all my life. Only reason I ever watched it, was because I was bored and there was nothing else on TV.

The Teenage mutant ninja turtles movies.

As a kid, I loved em. Going back and watching em now, I wonder what the hell were they thinking?

Thundercats

I hated the voices, and I thought the stories were stupid. Hell, I even hated the animation of that show.

And now I'm drawing a blank. Oh well. Too much halo 2.
