Ghosttown cause? = Player Cities, and the crippling of Entertainers. What need did I have for anything in my old hometown of Tyrena lately? Starport, that's it. Before Nocturnus, I considered myself one of the last proud 'residents' of Tyrena. I wish they'd add apartments in the big cities for rent (like a house but smaller and more costly). We could have buildings rather than cities.

There was a time before buffs? That must have been a golden age.

It was.

People would form hunting groups. They tried to comprise groups tat had a nice variety of complimentary professions. Very much like a party of adventurers.

These groups would go out, hunt for a couple hours, then come back to the cities to heal the wounds abd battle fatigue. They would interect with the entertainers in the cantinas (and actually tip them), some would even relate stories of their exploits.

It was fun, you'd hear stories of fearsome tuskens (not, "I got buffed and farmed Ft. Tusken for 3 hours for some ph4t l3wt").

The golden age was truly that.

The closest thing we have had since is the space expansion. Because Tier 4 is very difficult to solo, people have been forced back to the group idea, and I think this is great.

I remember one time I was in a group of 13 and we were all saying "Hey do you think we have enough, we have a few medics and one doc, but I dont think we are ready yet". It was priceless ...*sobs* I miss those days imps would raid AH all the time *crys* I WANNA GO BACK!

I remember spending a LOT of time in Anchorhead as a Rebel. I am really saddened that place is dead. I don't understand why it happened either.

What happened? Player cities happened. Player citied spread people out. In a social game, spreading people out is a bad idea.

Communities need a critical mass to survive. What happens over time with player cities.. some stop growing and slowly dwindle to the point where they are ghost towns.

Even the "best" player cities are usually pretty boring IMO. Thankfully, people are starting to figure this out and you see cities like Mos Eisley thriving again.

There are just too many Player Cities. Did you know there are at least 130 of them? Can you name more than 20?

People need to dump their dead cities and form fewer, but BETTER cities. Quality over quantity.

Actually, when I first started playing a few months ago, Nocturnus was still doing the group hunt thing. One of the very first things I did when I got into town was go on a kimo hunt. There must have been 12 or 13 of us and we were all buffed too...

Maybe they should make it so that you gain almost no experience from killing an enemy while buffed. That way people can still get buffed and go loot hunting, but get no xp benefit from camping and grinding? And while they are at it, they should make PvP while buffed impossible. That would make me happy.

I remember the days Ekade and I used to run around Anchorhead doing destroy missions. You had to be grouped back then and we didnt know what a buff was (Unless you were talking about some OTHER buffing that was done behind locked doors *wink at Ekade*).

I remember we ran into a big NPC battle between rebs and imps, and ofcourse me being the hardcore RP reb I was at the time...I had to stop and get killed with the rest. Heh, you dont last long when all you have on is a rebel marine chest and various pieces of mabari armor. Back then though, that was damn good protection

OOH!! I remember that. It was the coolest thing! Rebel and Stormies shooting it out in the desert.

Yes I remember those days. The days when I was one of the many who lived at anchor doing this and that. I was proud to be a reb. Now I have to keep what I have to myself. I refuse to drop my rebel faction for the sake of RP. I spent days on getting to where I am. I miss the old days back on MDB but now I am in MERCS almost exactly like MDB except ne ekade and a few other guys. But at any rate I wish player citys never came. Even though I live in one I still rather of been in the anchorhead community. I was there about a week or so ago and only two people were there and they were uber noobs.

Also You can only have one house at a time so choose wisely.

Yeah, that is a better design decision than player cities I think. Keeps the community together.

Yes it is, But I just love the fact that when somone says "Hey where do you live" I can reply "Rohan and yourself" and not some Player city that somone has never heard of. Not saying that Noc is a bad place but honestly if I never met Sepiv I would have never came to noc

I am going to be a normal Elf who follows the ruels and what not. Playing as a human in SWG all this time has made me want to be something more different. I would choose a dwarf but I think elfs have cooler weapons and other things. Though Humans have the most weapons I like elves for grace and power. Though I am not going to RP as any special elf who is high and mighty. My elf will be more down to earth and not treat humans and even more so dwarvs badly.
