I thought that thing was in Chicago. I used to always hear ads for it on the radio.

Nope.. there are Renaissance Festivals all across the country.Del'tar Chagas wrote:You mean the Bristol Renaissance Fair in Wisconsin? Please tell me thats what you are talking about.
I manage my friend's booth at the Michigan one (and help out when and where I can other times of the year at cons and shows).
I have been to the Bristol Faire and did enjoy it the few times I've been and worked it.

They say chicago, but that is just so people will care. Six Flags Great America isn't in Chicago, its in Gurnee, but no one gives a crap about Gurnee.
I know there are festivals like that all over the place, but there are a few folks on here from my area. I was hoping that someone else had enjoyed the wonder that is the Bristol Renaissance Faire. I am talking about that great feeling you get when you see those people wearing only chainmail...who if you saw them on the street they would definitely recieve a citation for public indecency. No joke. And people take their families to these things.

Y'know, I never realized this until they built Gurnee Mills virtually next door to it.Del'tar Chagas wrote:They say chicago, but that is just so people will care. Six Flags Great America isn't in Chicago, its in Gurnee, but no one gives a crap about Gurnee.

Exactly...if it wasn't in the name, nobody would know where it was. It is funny to hear the ads on the radio and such...they make claims like, "In chicago's backyard".
That is one hell of a yard. Gurnee is like an hour away from Chicago...longer when you account for traffic. Backyards shouldn't have traffic.

It's right across te Wisconsin border.TramelRaggs wrote:I thought that thing was in Chicago. I used to always hear ads for it on the radio.
In fact.. I am probably about a 30 min drive from there where I am sitting right now.

The one thing I love about the Renaissance fair.. It lets you know that the theater/drama majors have been able to do with their lives.

Its owned by a winery I think and they have different events all year. The best part is the 35 acre elizabethan village they have set up.

Yes, where you too can buy a 32oz Coke & a turkey leg for $9.50. I keep looking for the signs on the food booths saying "Yes, we can finance your purchase".E-bo Obi wrote:Ahhh yes, the renaissance fair. I drove past THE Pennsylvania Renaissance Fair.
