Time Travel

The only time I wish I could have gone back and changed things was 9/11. But I must admit to that being a selfish, cause I realize the tsunami is much worse but my convictions not as strong with it.

Then again, if we stopped 9/11 would it have lead to further apathy in national security and lead the way to something worse? Its hard to say.

Another Documentary you should all check out is "Time Cop". Even though it sounds like a ride at a Disney themepark, I think JCVD does a great job of outlining the basics of time travel...while doing the splits in hanes briefs...on 2 chairs.

You can't argue with facts.

Everyone talks about going back and changing something to make someone's life better. What if you knew that going back in time and making someone suffer would bring about world peace, could you do it? I don't think I could.

While hindsight is 20/20 and there are things I wish I could go back and undo and change, I don't want that ability. I would lose track of the now and what could be and live in the past.

Hmm... an interesting proposition. I usually subscribe to the "the needs of many" kind of mentality...but this is a direct test of that ideology. I don't know if I could do that. Well, at the very least I would consider it.
Call me insensitive, but man...if you knew for certain that one person's suffering would prevent the suffering of countless others (without unintended negative consequences), there would be some serious consideration goin' on upstairs in my brain.

Like pushing Adolph into a well as a child. Hell if I know...but think about it. At the very least, you prevented the murder of a million plus people. With the untimely demise of a mass murderer.

Don't forget Futurama. Fry became his own grandfather too.

ButterFly effect is a perfect example, He went back many times to change this and that to help that one girl out and in the end....well I wont spoil it for those that havent seen it, but If I could go back and tell myself not to act like such a child while in a relationship with the mother of my child but in the end I would say have caused pain and suffering to others...I would probally be selfish, cause I would want my child to grow up with both her parents, a proud part of life I never had...but thats just me

Pushing Adolph into a well as a child still doesn't convay the scope of what I mean. You know that Adolph will become a mass murderer. But what if it was actually helping Adolph? What if making his 1000 year Riche possible puts into motion a chain of events that would bring about it's downfall at the end of that 1000 years and bring world peace? In essence, what if it meant that you would have to become a murderer more heinous then Adolph?

But this question implies omniscience of what your actions would bring. In essence, the question boils down to, 'Could you be God' and my answer I guess would be no, I couldn't.

You haven't seen Time Bandits, Del'tar? FOR SHAME!
Its a Terry Gilliam masterpiece! Get your ass down your brother-in-law's house and borrow that movie now and I mean RIGHT NOW. If for some reason Mr. Zannon does not own that film tell him I'm going to pay him a visit and I'll be bringing the vice grips.

That's my point about not living in the past Kirt. We cannot go back and undo things that we regret. We can go forward and do things to make them better.

If the cost of going back to yesterday and fixing what went wrong was giving up your sight, would you do it? If you answer to that question is yes, then maybe you should ask yourself "what am I willing to do to make things better tomorrow"?

Wow, we have shot the full gambit with this one haven't we?

We should also remember the feature film Ice Pirates. When their vessel enters a region of space time is fastforwarded to the point where the captain, played by Robert Urich, has a family and a fight with the pursuing vessel lasts somewhere around 40 years. Whe they come out of this irregular space it was as if only fifteen minutes had passed. So they were able to see their future.

Amazing film. That little situation really only lasted fifteen minutes. I give the entire film two lekku up and a butt jiggle.
