There were two alliance soldiers (I will call them campers) waiting for you to trigger your PvP mode (now called a TEF) by completing a quest so that they could attack you, even if you had no interest in PvP'ing with them.
First, that area is legitimatly high traffic for both sides. We were actually in
their territory with a death warrant for one of their NPC's. The game is designed so that each side can guard it's side's Vendor and Utility NPC's from enemy attack. Personally, I like that idea. Even moreso on a RP server. How RP is it to walk into an enemy town to kill a member of the opposite side while his comrades just stand by helpless to defend him, even if it is an NPC? It's an added degree of risk that you have to account for, just as if it were a nearby NPC mob.
So, honestly, I doubt they were camping. They were all on their way out when we came along and saw us as targets of opportunity. If anyone is to blame it's me and Karthu (Endrin) for not seeing the trap sooner. But we're inexperienced that way. This experience definitely made me a better player.
If we had a plan we could both have put that NPC down, completing the quest, and cliff dived into the ocean (SO COOL), getting away James Bond style. (Lesson learned for anyone playing in danger near water. It can be an asset just like in real life).

Damn skippy, sir. That mofo NElf chasing me underwater, then lickin' off arrows at me...!! I didn't feel griefed one bit. Even if I had died. Their ambush was pulled off exquisitely and I admire them for it. I *try* to write IC stories that exciting.
They just didn't have anyone covering the water...or maybe they did! Who knows when that NElf showed up? As far as I'm concerend he was doing his duty, RP-supported. I was in Alliance lands. I would have done the same and I'm about as far from a PvP-Grief Goober as anyone can be.

Once again, nope. At least not in this situation. Sure, make no mistake you can be griefed in WoW as in any other game, but to me this was just like another mob to deal with on the way. I was actually very tempted to start on a full PvP server, because in a realistic sense both sides would be trying to kill each other on sight. The main reason that I didn't is because I knew that all the other aspects of RP would probably suffer on a full PvP server. The maturity level seems to take a nose dive when you encounter those types.
In summary, I see WoW as both a challenge to your intelligence yet still fun. It was refreshing not being invincible for a change.
