Yala
Is this Yala from Asamoya? If so, I have you on my buddylist as Vala.
Yes, that is she... Lady Yala. :D

Ah... she contacted me for some RP, but alas I was logging. I was excited because I thought I was a RP giant (smile).

Yes, like Zannon said, we have thought about moving this around. The one problem I see is communication. Some people find out about S&V night my word of mouth or happenstance. If we move it... will they know? Will we lose people because of it?
Warring factions, criminal acts, futil struggles to get off planet, and this is just on Tatooine..
Very true. Do you have some ideas? :D
That should be part of the dynamic of it! Moving it around some is a great idea--it just becomes a matter of "finding" it or sharing the information in the underworld. But of course, with a guise, not as "have you heard scum and villainy night is at Jabba's next week?"

I mean, word of mouth is how most of this stuff is getting passed around outside this forum. Maybe it's Jabba's summons that gets things kicked off -- I wish somebody could play a droid so they could translate from Huttese. Ooo! I like that idea -- Jabba could give a challenge, demand a duel, maybe set a bounty on Talon and Dossk's heads (oh, sorry, wishful dreamin - lol!), start a scavenger hunt or sorts...the possibilities seem endless.

Quick diversion here--I bought a perfect prop for *something* as well. I hadn't seen one before. It's a locked suitcase. Maybe its contents would never even be important (thinking Pulp Fiction) but we could use it in the future as anything too! *runs madly off to the GM section*

You just touched on something that I think is brilliant...

Someone should be roleplaying Jabba the Hutt!!!!!

He is a very influential being in the galaxy, and we as players should be feeling his presence. Perhaps this is the perfect niche for some of the bounty hunter type roleplayers.

My brain is flooding with all sorts of ideas right now. I see shakedowns, I see bribes, I see bounties flying around left and right.

Do we want to appoint someone, or a small group, to "play" Jabba?

My one concern is that the financial burden is not too extreme. If we can develop a system where money is circulating freely, I think the financial burden will be minimal.

Ex: Jabba gets extortion money from merchant, he spends said money to hire bounty hunter, who spends his money at merchant. Simple example, I know.. but I don't think it is fair for the money to flow in one direction. Players should not be getting rich at the expense of other players.

If you want to take it a step further.. you can have 2 opposing guilds. One aligned with Jabba, the other with Lady Valarian. Just an idea for the future.

Muaha! It's growing! I had a thought at the beginning of playing SWG that it wouldn't be hard for someone to kneel behind Jabba and speak for him, or finding someone who "speaks huttese" other than his translator droid (who just may translate wrong for his own amusement).

As far as that goes.. Why not stake claims in other cities? I'd never heard of the criminal boss who heads up Espa.. Or Entha.. Or.. Any other city on any other planet, mind you (Other than the shell hutts, who should be slinking all over Corellia in their repulsorlift chairs!)... Who's to stop someone from stepping in and staking their claim? S&V night would get crazy.. Real crazy, what with people running planetary missions, others trying to intercept deliveries, and even some assassination attempts. The love!

If everyone into S&V were to get their own little gangs and begin to faction off as the role play grew on this server, we'd have smuggling missions and intergalactic espionage happening when JTL hit.. The character development, alliances, and action could quite possibly never cease!

Side note: I realised I don't whine and bitch about lack of content at all due to the fact that where there is none, I make some.

All I was initially stating was the fact that we've got a galactic sandbox, and more often than not, the RPers huddle in one cantina talking about storylines and don't really play them out.. Take Danwe. I RPed his story from day one of enterance into the Imperial Academy. Only upon ferreting out and aiding the Empire with some very sensative material (Lytus, a malfunctioning droideka, some whiley Tuskens who took over a bunker on Tatooine) was he invited to The Emperor's retreat. Upon aiding Lord Vader in realizing that it could quite possibly have been someone he knew that caused the Death Star's explosion, he sent Danwe to Dantooine in order to learn the nature of The Force.

Okay, so before I met you all, I RPed with myself (And I'm not blind, so there), but what I'm getting at is if we can get a mobile, organic feel to this, S&V night wouldn't have to be soley in the Despot.. We could have storyline after storyline interwoven as we roamed the galaxy.

Last thought.. Is there any way we can make a RP channel? I know our guild not only has guildchat, but an actual channel that anyone can join.. I think it'd be neat if we could get an in character and out of character channel set up. IC could be used as the holonet.. Whereas we can babble back and forth on the OOC...

Just some thoughts.

Great thoughts, Dossk! And Lady Valarian is right there inside the Lucky Despot and totally available to everyone unlike the limitations mentioned much earlier for Jabba's throne room. Just her room is a little smaller. That could be an easy start. Maybe Valarian wants to expand her influence off Tatooine.

Having interwoven storylines into each other with lots of interaction would be a wonderful thing.

Oh, and glad you didn't go blind. :-D

I was thinking this would manifest itself in the form of an underling hiring bounty hunters, and making deals, etc. Something like a Bib Fortuna, perhaps Bib's right hand man. This way you can still have RP in the Palace.. this underling can "talk" to Bib or the translator droid, and inteact with those present.

Truth be told, this entity does not technically have to be a character at all. It can communicate via email, etc.
As far as that goes.. Why not stake claims in other cities? I'd never heard of the criminal boss who heads up Espa.. Or Entha.. Or.. Yes, the possibilities are truly endless here. You and I share the same giddyness when thinking about this. :)

Very true. With all good things, they have to start off small. We have to design it to work small. You don't want to create something that requires a ton of people to make it work.

Totally agree... that is the perfect attitude.
All I was initially stating was the fact that we've got a galactic sandbox, and more often than not, the RPers huddle in one cantina talking about storylines and don't really play them out..
I know I can do a better job at this, I think we all can. The purpose of these "socials" is to get RP'ers in one place and also serve as a stage for ongoing events, and partially to give people a place to go to meet some active roleplayers. One of the biggest complaints I dee from roleplayers are that they cant find roleplayers. These social events exist to address that issue.

Yes, this was the original intent. We have kept it at the Despot on purpose for the few weeks to allow it to get some traction. I wanted to move it from RP city to RP city.. to allow everyone to get a chance to showcase what they have. Even so, anywhere can be a possible venue.

The one issue with a mobile event is that there will be some people who are not aware of the move. Perhaps we solve this by placing a spam droid in the Despot, announcing the current locale.
Last thought.. Is there any way we can make a RP channel? I know our guild not only has guildchat, but an actual channel that anyone can join.. That is a good idea.. though I hesitate to put another source of input on my screen.. I RP about 90% if my time in game and it is hard to carry on other conversations while doing this. However, I like the idea a lot. This can be another place we can direct hungry roleplayers to who are in search of RP. It would also be a good place for people to say "hay, I'm bored.. someone want to RP with me?"

I am not all that savvy with channels in SWG.. can someone speak to this?

Overall, great ideas Dossk.. I think I will start some new threads so we can dicuss these topics there.

RP Channel is fine but I'd likely almost never watch it as I have enough trouble keeping up as it is.

Y'know, you can split channels off from each other so you can watch mutiple ones at the same time. I have 2 main ones going on my HUD (Group/tells & spatial). I think I can make a 3rd, adjust the other two, and it not take up too much space.

Yes, I currently have 3 up... Spatial, guild, and Instant Messages. When in combat, I switch the Instant messages to Combat. Most of the time I end up ignoring what is in guild.
