1/13/06 Publish 12 Patch info

Eh, I've come to not expect much in the patches these days. However, this does mean I can get back to making the easy money of selling berzerker rifle barrles and schems. I've been needing another one to actually fight with for a long time. Down side is, I won't be one of the 3 people on server that actually owns one anymore.

I know they're working oh so hard on new stuff but the game has been very discouraging as of late. They need to do somethign and do it fast if they want to keep their subscribers.

I wish they would hurry up, not for personal gain but so people start playing again. Some days I seriously feel like I am playing some old abandoned MMORPG thats running in an emulator or something.

Amen to that brothers. I logged on the other day, and as soon as I booted up I thought to myself, "Why did I bother?" It is sad really, considering how much I used to play.

Here is to hoping the CU/GU comes quick.

On a completely differnt note, I'm liking how they're putting the updates in a "in character" type of post on the loadscreen. This latest one reminded me of Ringo's news reports after the patches. They just messed up on one thing: There's no cantina in narmle. What ever happend to those? I miss em.

The butt slide fix is HUGE.

I still normally see a decent sized friends list when I log on. However, I do log on less frequently than I used to, 4 times a week versus 7. As I have said in other posts, my enthusiasm for the game has actually grown. I guess my playsessions have become quality over quantity. I spend less time, "just hanging out" and waiting for the fun in SWG than I used to.

Yes.. you shold always be doing something new. I try to meet roleplayers when things get "slow". This enhances my game and the group as a whole (assuming I can convince them to come here.. and many have).

Chat saving protocols have been optimized on the client. (For those that are curious, we throttled excessive disk io in the UI saving code and limited the amount of back scroll text that is saved to the uis. This should help out with client lag and make larger uis files considerably smaller.)

A big thing that was included was something that addresses LAG. Look up GUI LAG on the SOE forums.

I took a peek in my profile and and the UIS file. There was stuff in there from when I was working on rifleman, doctor. There was stuff with me healing Greebo (Wey's pet greater sludge panther). The guild chat log from Mafia was there. Stuff that Wzathawizard said in guild chat was still in the UIS file. 5mb of crap. Most of it over a year old.

So this publish is addressing LAG

You think that's bad? Check out restuss. There's mobs outside every gate. Except the one to the Imperial compound. We like to keep that clear of unsavory characters.

I don't think its bad at all. I have no issues slaying hundreds of them at a time. I'll stop up at Restuss if you Imperials need help keeping the area clean.
