Speaking of creepy goth types, here is a link I found funny. In fact, if I had to give it a rating, it would recieve a vote of "quite hilarious".

*Be warned however, it is very possible people may be offended by the writing and vulgar language.*

Is this a PnP game? An MMO? A computer game?
A computer game. Liked it very much, it's worth it's money, especially if you like vampires ;o)

To the topic itself, i don't think i would want to be a vampire.
Sure, sounds cool to have all those superhuman traits that Vampire: Masquerade describes, but just walking around at night? And there's that no sex thing that's left unclear ^^

I could like to be a ghoul like they are described in Masquerade. Human servants that fed of vampire blood with prolonged life and heightened strength, etc.
Or a human servant like they are described in the Anita Blake novels from Laurell K. Hamilton, quite similar.

I don't know. From the Masquerade books I've read, most ghouls are downright slaves.

If your master (vampire) doesn't like you anymore, they just stop feeding you blood. The minute you stop processing the vampire blood in your veins, you age. Instantly.

So, if you're 20, get "ghouled," and 60 years of slavery later, your master no longer cares for you, POOF, you're 80, and more than likely instantly dead.

Does not sound like anything I'd want in my book ;)

I remember this from years back.. shamelessly ganked from some site I Google'd...

The top 15 complaints of the modern day vampire :-

15) Grunge look makes it tough to tell living from the undead.
14) Nutrasweet or not, fat-free blood tastes like crap.
13) Hard to get a decent puncture with latex on your fangs.
12) Three Words: Daylight Savings Time
11) Thanks to all those Marilyn Manson fans, we just aren't taken seriously any more.
10) After 45 years of Communist rule, it's impossible to find clean, uncontaminated Transylvanian soil for bottom of coffin.
9) After 100 years of trying, still can't score with Elvira.
8) No bat is safe with Ozzy Ozbourne around.
7) With all those crucifix-wearing Madonna clones, junior highs are suddenly off-limits.
6) No warm blood for miles around DC.
5) Exhausted from all those Calvin Klein photo shoots.
4) Sick and tired of being mistaken for Keith Richards
3) Buxom wenches of old have been replaced by aerobicized "hardbodies."
2) Baboon heart makes everything taste gamey.
And the number 1 complaint of Modern-day Vampires:

1) No small task beating F. Lee Bailey to a warm body.

Well, i can't see that there's more danger in being a goul than maybe being an 80 year old vampire that angers an elder.
POOF in both situations, in the Masquerade setting you're not safe from it, even as a vampire, if someone older is angry at you ;o)

And hey, 60 years of life without aging is pretty good, regarding the fact that we probably will be dead with 80 anyway *g*

In this game it's pretty clear.... I don't think the screen would go black and you hear a woman screaming with pleasure if they're just sittin' around playin' parcheesi...

And about the "only walk at night" thing.... I'm already a night person, being a vampire would only give me more reason to stay in during the day... And what's so wrong with the night anyway? It's when the world is most lively.... No strip clubs are open at 6 A.M. and who goes out to eat a nice steak at 11 in the morning... If you're afraid of the night.... come on you're a VAMPIRE!!! No mugger is gonna take you down with a couple of bullets, you just punch him in the head and drain him dry...

The ghoul thing.... that kinda weirds me out... I have one in game, BUT only because she was supposed to give me some KICKIN' armor, but she never did... and now I can't get rid of her without being penalized... Although it is nice to come home to a half naked chick all the time, even if she is made of polygons.... they're damn nice polygons...

I still think it would be cool to live through all the great time periods and see what's happening next, and pull some strings now and then to make history take a different direction...

But that's just me...

i've been a LARPer in the Masquerade, and we would never take down prey in a restaurant. Talk about breaking the Masquerade! Then you'd have BOTH the Elders and the Hunters out after you. And half the peasantry with pitchforks and blazing torches.....and those pesky werewolves.

This is exactly why I started making silver bullets. And besides doesn't everyone carry a wooden stake and a mallet with them at night?

Never played the game however I am like Keer and appreciate the idea of Vampires as explained by Bram Stokers Dracula. Frankly I'd be an Angel. I'd do without the shape shifting for those niffty wings and a sword any day.

Never played the PnP game or read the books, but i have played the first VtM computer game. I loved that game and still pull it out from time to time. Now Bloodlines is a FPS game correct, as the first game is more like SWG ( 3rd person view ). I might have to go see if i can find Bloodlines and give it a try as the FPS kinda turned me off to trying it out.

Played the PnP game once and didn't really care for it. The GM cut me off from my contacts in my vamp type reducing me to the equevilant of a no name NPC while the other two players where given controll over a small army. The GM excused it by blaming me for picking the vamp type I picked. Since then I've never wanted to play it again.

Whatever you people do, don't type "LARP" into a Google window and hit enter!

It might kill you!
