Actor for Sider-Man 3 Villian Anounced

My problem with making John Jameson Venom is it doesn't have the same punch as the original Venom origin. You had Eddie Brock, a reporter shamed and discredeted by Spiderman for writing false stories who's loses his wife and his job in one fell swoop. Then you have the symbiote completed rejected by its host and left to die. Slap the two together and you end up with a villian who isn't out for money or world domination but to punish the wicked with extreme prejudice and kill Spiderman at all costs.

Now THAT story would make a good movie. Problem is you'd have a hell of a time explaining the Secret Wars where Spiderman got the suit in the first place.

Yup. That's why I didn't even go there. Big obstacle with the Secret Wars. Eddie Brock is mentioned in an aside by J. Jonah Jameson in the first movie so they haven't totally ignored him, though.

With the pattern the movies have taken so far it seems that co-opting certain comic arcs for different characters is cool with them. Jameson Jr. goes to the moon and becomes Man-Wolf in the books, but I doubt we'll be seeing him. Outside of that there's the alien angle of putting the Venom hat on him while he's in space... And it satisfies a few pre-developed plots.

Orrr the suit could be another wild product of Oscorp's lab to get the company going again. In the new re-imagined Ultimate Spiderman, the suit has terrestrial origin (not Oscorp) that's a pretty good story, with Eddie Brock included.

Bottom line, if it's directed well enough, it'll salve my comic fan nostalgia alarms, just.

The arc in Daredevil with him was dark and unexpectedly entertaining, alas poor Karen Page.

Raimi had the ability to make Otto Octavius appealing to me so I have nothing but faith in his choice here. Unfortunately poor Spidey's classic silver age rogue's gallery is a pretty visually unappealing lot. Doc Ock.....Larry from 3 Stooges haircut, Vulture........withered Abe Vigoda look, Sandman......striped green t-shirt??? Scary to think that Shocker, Electro, Lizard, Green Goblin are some of the less ugly Spidey villains.

With Venom & later Carnage they gave Spidey someone flashy that folks could get interested in. I think the villain with the "meatiest" story to tell would be Curt Conners as while it would be similar to Doc Ock's tale in SM2 of a good man gone astray in a scientific quest, the Lizard's story would no doubt end in redemption as he returned to his family safely at the end of the movie. Thats just my best guess, no just get me a damn danger room in X3 and I will be ecstatic!

Filming for Punisher 2 starts in like 3-4 months I believe. Gonna be nice to see Jigsaw getting it handed to him on the big screen :P

Even though I thought that Dolph Lundgren made a good looking Frank Castle in the much maligned, and deservedly so, original Punisher, I was very impressed with Thomas Jane's portrayal of him. If you liked Thomas Jane in the Punisher I recommend an odd violent drama he starred in called
Thursday.

if I had to guess, it's probably the sandman...the special effects would be great...

plus if you shave "lowell's" head, he looks quite like the sandman imo

Ew... the Dolph Punisher movie.... I need a shower.

The new Punisher movie was a lot better than I thought it would be, especially since they took a lot from Garth Ennis's most recent run of Punisher and even used some of his more original characters. I didn't expect much at all and I got enough to enjoy it. I look forward to see what they do with Jigsaw in the next film.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned him yet but Kraven is one villian they could do quite well in the movies. A mentally deranged hunter in New York could prove interesting but not enough to drive the film. He'd had to play side-by-side with another villian.

Damn thats an excellent suggestion, one I forgot about. He could be in NYC
on a "hunt" with the Lizard as the prey and Spidey getting involved in a classic 3-way cluster, Peter trying to save Doc Conners while dealing with
the nutty big game hunter.

To add to it they could include one the greatest Spiderman stories every told where Kraven buried him alive. Think of what a great cinematic scene that would make.

Fun facts about Mr. Lundgren:

- Near genius level I.Q.
- Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Former MIT graduate student

Who'd a thunk it?

It's probably unfair, but when I think about introducing multiple new villains in the same movie, I see the last 3 Batman movies. There really needs to be more dedicated screen time to that one personality for them to mean something to audiences over 12 years old. Not to mention the time needed to further the main character's growth.

While it's possible to bring off, I'd hate to see Spider Man fall into that pit.

Ah, I sometimes tend to think along those same lines Mr. Keer but then I stop and think "Was it the use of more than one villian that made those movies trash or was it just bad writing/directing?"

Can't really say it was the directing. Those directors do have some pretty great films under their belt. You could blame it on the writing because the dialogue and plotlines sucked.

In the end I just blame the whole package. You just can't nail it down to one element of the films. They just plain sucked. I believe a villian team-up can be done if you have the right formula and having Mr. Raimi at the helm sure helps.

On that same note we better HOPE they get a team-up right because we basically see that the green goblin will return in the next film based on one of the final scenes in Spiderman 2. Since another villian has been cast we can only assume we're stuck with the 2 villian fomula.

Besides, just having the Green Goblin as the villian again by himself regardless of who is behind the mask is not something I'd look forward to.

And Gobby would be A LOT easier to get used to if they abandon the lame Ultra Man/Power Ranger helmet & mask they used in the first film.

One of the decisions that I didn't like was to waste one of the best "mean faces" in Hollywood by covering it up with that static mask. Willem Dafoe's face was tailor made to play the Goblin (sorry, but when it's true it's true).

A little makeup to distinguish it from his Norman Osborn grill and the director could have had some facial expressions to work with in key scenes. Instead you've got a guy in a mask going "Urgh" against another guy in a mask going "Argh".

Even "The Gimp" from Pulp Fiction had more audience connection and he never spoke a line.

Actor James Franco (Harry Osborn) has great face expression (check out the final scenes of City by the Sea with Robert DeNiro). If they use Goblin again, I hope they don't disconnect him from the audience with the Mardi Gras mask again.

Two key things we need to remember though about the 2nd movie and the comics that may keep Raimi from using GG in the third film. First off although we see Harry find the mask and gear we do not see him put the stuff on. In the comics it was years before Harry desisded to put the Goblins mask on. And when he did he did it to prove his father was a good man. I can see in the third film Raimi playing true to this very indepth plot line by having Harry comming to terms with the idea his father was the Green Goblin and convicing himself his dad was the good guy and Pet was the villian. A tool they could use to show how hard this is hitting Harry would be his drug use (now turned to drinking). He could hit rock bottom, nearly dieing from alcohol pisoning, and then deside that he had his father wrong all along that he was the hero by the end of the thrid movie, seting up a fourth with his as GG.
