Dunno about averages, but I'm gonna have to make you stop bitching. My white collar job pays just a tad under yours, my property taxes are 4x yours, while my suburban house and property are about half the size. Woo hoo! And I'm still not a tight-assed republican!!! The reason your taxes are so high is because you have all that extra crap to pay for...plus your in a suburban developed area. WE DONT EVEN SELL BOOZE, BEER, WINE OR ANYHING OVER NYQUILL in this county! lol no lie. Its the last dry county in north carolina. The town voted in wine, but nobody will buy it now...which makes me ask who the hell actually voted for it?

Best education available...yeah right. The public school system here in California spends $3000 a year per student yet private schools only spend an average of 1k a year and they get better results than the state can ever imagine. Our grandpa's are getting their checks but by the time we get to retirement the system will be busted and we wont get a dime. Why? Because the same politicians who think that taking more of people's money than what the government is entitled too think we are all to stupid to handle our own money. This coming from a government that will spend 50 dollars on a 10 dollar stapler. Note that I stated more than what the government is entitled too. The government is there to provide law and order and that's really it. Law includes military and law enforcement. Order includes infrastructure (i.e. roads and power lines) and governmental establishments. No ware in the Constitution does it give the government the right to redistribute wealth which is ware allot of our taxes go nor does it give them the right to use federal money on frivolous spending often referred to as pork spending (i.e. The Big Dig in Boston which is costing millions in federal tax money or the Hispanic cultural center Barbra Boxer is having the federal government build at a price tag that goes into the millions).

I only pray that a branch will form in my state, California. We have hospitals closing nearly every other day here because they cann't keep up with the bills created by having to treat illegal immigrants. Insurance commpanies are refussing to cover anyone living in southern California because the unpaid medical bills are passed off to every one else raising the cost of health care. Our school system is abismal due to over crowding and our state government has made it illegal for cops to ask anyone if they are citizens, and for any state worker to report an illegal imagrant to the INS. Many of the gangs rosters, like the 187th Street Gang, are illegal imigrants who commited violent crimes in their homelands. nearly half of my states budget is going to social programs that are over burdened by illegal imigrants.

The government sits and does nothing so the poeple must do what they are legally able to try to stop it.

I am for immigration as long as it is legal. Make it easier and free while still doing a background check and I'd be happy to see my tax money go to it, instead of rewarding those who ignore our sonverty.

I am just curious where you are getting your information from. I am looking at the California State budget for 2003-2004 and I am noticing some interesting things...

The word "immigrant" appears 2 times in 697 pages, and both times in the context of "naturalized citizen"...

The word "alien" (legal term for a non-citizen residing in the US) appears a grand total of 0 times in 697 pages.

I said that nearly half of our budge is spent on social programs, that are being overburdened by illegal imigrants. Not that half of our budget is being spent souly on illegal imagrants.

Because we have so many groups that think the United States should have wide open boarders, allowing anyone and every one in without having to sign the metiphorical guest book, they have convinced a predominate liberal state senate to refere to them as migrant workers. If you even so much as utter illegal imigrant here allot of people with brand you a rasist and have you tared and fethered for good messure. The State also has a pollicy of dont ask dont tell when it come to illegal imigrants and it refuses to do any kind of study to see how much of the states money is being used to basicly subsidize illegal imigrants. Unfortunatly that only leaves polls as the only reliable sorce of information on the budgetary drain. It's a little early for me to think on what sights on could go to but there are quite a few out there. Unfortunatly there are also polls that will tell you that yeah they use the social programs but they pay taxes too. That is a complete red herring. Why? Because if they are here illegally then they do not have a social security number and if they dont have that then how does the IRS know that this guy over here even exsists to get tax money from. And if they pay taxes then the IRS would see a company that is paying employees less than minimum wadge and report the violation to the feds.

"Migrant Workers" as you called them do pay taxes.

Federal Income tax is tricky, but here is a break down of how I KNOW we do taxes at my company...

An employer gives a worker a check at the end of the week, lets say he makes 10 bucks an hour for 40 hours...his check should be 400 bones right?

Wrong...the employer withheld money for Social Security, Federal Income tax, and FUTA (Federal Unemployment Tax). That money goes to the government. AND since Federal income tax is what is called an "employer matched tax", the employer pays an EQUAL amount of what the employee paid in taxes to the government as well (this can be set up quarterly, but we do it weekly, so every week, the government takes a chunk of money in payroll taxes from our bank account).

If an employer is NOT doing this for any employee (regardless of whether or not the gov't knows they are here legally or not), they should pray they don't ever get audited.

You can Hire employees on a 1099 Contract basis instead of W-2 and not pay their taxes for them, it is then the responsibility of the employee to pay their own taxes...

I imagine this is how many of the illegal immigrants that come to the USA to get work are hired, then never have to pay taxes cause they aren't legal citizans...
