What's the average duration of marriage in the USA?

I am not sure.. but I am sure that the answer to that question has to be pretty darn funny.
I am certain it could be appropriately measured in weeks. I know Norel was married and shared houses 4 times in the 1.5 years he played. I am not going to try to count girlfriends in between.

Daaaaang NOREL!

There was this girl I knew from the early days named Libi... she must have been married at least 8 times. I used to get wedding invites from her on a monthly basis.

Me and Blue-Quick used to snicker about this. Then I had an idea.. I told Libi that Blue-Quick was in love with her. One day he sends me a tell, "Libi won't leave me alone". Then I told him about my sinister plan. We both had a good laugh.

I love crazy people (like myself).

ok, you have to have the proper formula to calculate IG marriage...

like:
(X+Y)t = Y(g) / X(a)

In this equation X is the male, Y is the female. "t" is time. "g" is the male's coolness, and "a" is the females attention span.

there is a completely different formula that Imperial science is developing for trans gender marriages. <-- most of which tend to be longer lived than regular male/female marriages... in game that is...

Dwilah and Zannon for instance both have High coolness, and attention span levels.

If X= Ekade, the male counterpart may never be seen again once the "a" is exceeded...

I need clarification on your forumula...

t is time, got it
g is male coolness, got it
a is female attetion span, got it
X is what?
Y is what?

Numerically speaking, what do X and Y represent?

I don't know but it would have been much funnier if he used K instead of X.

Aww man.. I already had an XL spreadsheet set up and was ready to put some numbers through to test your theory.

Maybe I need to invent my own formula...

Also, and someone please correct me if I am wrong, but female is often represented by X as they have 2 X chromosomes, and males are Y because they have an X and a Y chromosome. Correct?

Nestle's is ok, but I prefer Similac. It doesn't leave as chalky of an aftertaste.

Temple researches have devised a formula rating in-game marriage:

The Criteria are as follows:

female patience 1-10, 10 being the best rating. Self explanatory
female talent rating 1-10, 10 being best rating. This number represents the ability of the female to bring happiness to her spouse.
predator activity index Represented as a negative number. 0 = no predator activity. -10 = high level of predator activity. Predator activity is defined as how much the "dudes" or "guy friends" in a females life are working every angle possible to influence the female to be untrue.
slutty former girfriend factor Represented as a negative number. 0 = no slutty former girlfriend factor. -10 = extreme slutty former girlfriend interference. Slutty former girlfriend factor is defined as the much the former flings in the males life are lurking around and trying to cause trouble. If this number is significant larger than the female talent rating above, there is going to be trouble.
male talent rating 1-10, 10 being the best rating. The ability of the male to provide "entertainment" for his spouse.
male attentiveness 1-10, 10 being the best. This represents the time and attention the male gives to the female. If this number falls below the female patience rating, it's stormy seas ahead.

The formula works like this.. Add up the above ratings and apply them to the scale below:
33-40 Don't come a knockin'
25-32 Happily ever after
17-24 Marital bliss
9-16 The honeymoon is over
1-8 Don't go away mad, just go away
less than 0 /duel spouse; /deathblow

Case Study:

Lets apply this foruma to early marriage Novall and Ekade and again to late marriage Novall and Ekade to see what nuggest we can glean from this.

Early relationship Novall and Ekade:
10 - female patience
10 - female talent rating
0 - predator activity index
0 - slutty former girfriend factor
7 - male talent rating
10 - male attentiveness
37 - Rating: Don't come a knockin'

Is a 7 too generous a telent rating for Novall? Probably. But Ekade was young and impressionable. As you can see the overall rating is excellent.

Late relationship Novall and Ekade:
3 - female patience
11 - female talent rating
-10 -predator activity index
0 - slutty former girfriend factor
7 - male talent rating
3 - male attentiveness
14 - Rating: The honeymoon is over

Even though the "female talent rating" increased over time, actually surpassing the maximum (it's a twilek racial bonus... we go to 11), the female patience rating and the male attentiveness rating dropped considerably. In addition, exceedingly high levels of predator activity put intense strain on the relationship.

How exactly does this quantify the length of time the couple was married for? If you ran this test on the night of the wedding everyone would score well, while several weeks later it maybe time to split.

Actually it does not.. a few more factors must be included..

- female patience decay index - self explanatory
- male attentiveness decay index - self explanatory

- predator persistence ratio - This reflects the varying tactics and webs of deceit woven to influence the female to surrender her goodies to the predators.
- former slutty girlfriend desperation acceleration index - the "ex's" get more desperate over time and tend to try harder as a result

Plot the "wedding night" score on a graph. X (horizontal) represents time, Y (vertical) is the "marriage rating".

Determing the "slope" from the above 4 ratings and plot the graph. Over time you should see line sink. Once the rating falls below he critical happiness threshhold, the relationship is on life support until it ultimately fails.

Um, will the line be straight? As in, as time increases, the happiness will directly increase or decrease? If so, do we use the point-slop formula or the y-intercept formula? If it is not a straight line (as I am suspecting it will be exponential growth or decay), then how do you determine slope? I forgot how to do that for a curve.

I say the point-slope forumla. Point being "wedding night rating", slope as determined by 4 degradation criteria cited above.

As long as you can state your point in a manner that sounds convincing, you only have to worry about people that *really* know what they are talking about, and those are really few and far between.
