Far all the WoW Players...

I never began to argue that SWG's quest or combat system was anything to brag about. I am merely trying to determine what is the draw to WoW. There is really no RP going on in the game - even on Argent Dawn. There are no real rewards for doing anything because there is no badge system (at least none I could find) and there are no player houses and cities to show off your cool loot/rewards. So the fun escapes me.

One thing I do like about WoW is that I could actually accomplish something in an hour and log out. SWG seems to have a three hour footprint for doing anything in a progression.

One could claim there is no RP going on in SWG, even on Gorath. You could take a character, and walk around Gorath and very realistically never find one ounce of RP if you did not know where to find it.

There is a good amount of RP on Argent Dawn, there are some fantastic roleplayers on Argent Dawn. The RP community has not come together there like they have here.. yet. Argent Dawn is much like Pre-SWGTales Gorath.

I have never heard a WoW player say, "Man, if only we had an awesome Badge system like they have in Swg!" :D

Yeah, in WoW you wear your "cool loot" as it is usually in the form of a useful item versus a decoration.

I don't enjoy farming for loot in either game to be honest.

Sadly.. late game-WoW is much the same. As you level up, the time commitment increases... though for most of the run you can accomplish something of value in an hour.

Most of the dungeons worth going to at level 60 are a 2.5 hour commitment at minumum. Then to get the UBER stuff you need a group of 40 people and 3-6 hours.. and these 40 people need to know what they are doing. You could very realistically get 40 people to spend 3-6 hours on a task, fail, and GET NOTHING for your trouble.

Getting a group of 40 people together can take anywhere from 15-90 minutes.. and waiting for that is teh suck.

To me, that is kind of a flaw. I've done a few of these and am starting to question the value of such endeavors.

Well having both games I can agree that RP in Warcraft depends on the server your on. On my main's server(Perenolde) there isn't alot of roleplay happening. I would agree that functionally, WOW creates some original missions that you don't see in any other game. I just went on an underwater mission fighting creatures with a friend. There's actually creatures in the water!

This part definatly sucks. I just hit 40 the other night and realized that I'm going to start having to do more instances/dungeons. Like EQ, they should be adding in new lands/quests that can be downloaded. Many people quit WOW after they hit level 60 and have acheived top level in PVP. Sure there's other classes..but who wants to do the same quests again?
