I think that the overall pace of the game is too fast as it is. The fact that you can purchase your tickets regardless of whether you're in a Starport or Shuttleport and board the shuttle from anywhere inside the building itself makes it smooth enough, in my opinion.

Ten minutes in the Starport also supports the idea that "Hey, I am going into hyperspace, travelling thousands of lightyears". It's gonna take a bit longer.
Does the 5 minute difference really add that much immersion for you? :) You don't HAVE to board the first transport. You could always wait for the 2nd one. :)

Why not calculate the relative distance between planets and assign yourself an appropriate wait time? :)

Ahhh, the age old gaming question... where to set the level of abstraction.
Actually if you read the post I do believe I did say that "Well, no one's forcing me to do this either." (second to last line).

And if I'm saying that I didn't mind the wait and for what reasons, and outlining what I do during the wait, then I'd read "Yeah, I guess it does make a difference to him."

Sepiv wrote: Hey about the /bo trans command -- I wasn't able to do it from inside the starport building. "There is no shuttle nearby" was all I saw. Are you actaully able to do it from inside the lounge?
Was the shuttle actually there, Sepiv? If so then you might have to try it again.

Also, I've noticed that if you're close to the entrance/exit of the landing pad it treats it like you're outside, "suggesting" you get closer to the actual shuttle and do it.

The "can't do that while running" when you're not, requires a re-try also.

Another bonus to this is that during really laggy moments, all you have to do is walk in the main entrance and PooF! :D

This topic has always fascinated me.. specifically "Is there a place for some method of long distance travel other than 'teleporting' in an MMORPG? And if so, how do you implement it in such a way that your players would enjoy it?"

I know if travel was more involved, people would do it a lot less.. much like in real life. It might be fun sitting on a transport, talking to people as you flew. Going somewhere would take some planning. You would be likely to stay on a planet for a much greater period of time.

What effect would this have on the game? One thing that would have to happen is that the population would have to compress. In addition, trade would become more involved.

Blah, I am just rambling to avoid work. I could go on forever. I better stop. :)

Oh yea, loving the 5 min wait. And the increased turrent hit points mean my 'fun' turrents will last a little longer. Nothing like having fun with turrents. (and no, I don't care if i'm misspelling them or not.)

As for the /bo trans command, that's good infor to know. Maybe now I can make my quick escape when transing between planets whilst overt.

I can't make any promises about the screaming. I'll make it a point to soundproof the house instead. How's that?

That will do nicely. Thank you. Maybe the wildlife will return to the area now. Funny thing, though, all the Ikopis around your house have this terrified look on their faces...

I probably wouldn't choose to live on Lok if travel were real time.

I'm WAY stoaked about his patch. OA is working on a HEAVY military "secret" so this patch was sent by god just for us. hehehe

The starport times kick ass too. I've been waiting for that one since day one. Although the 10 minute wait could be used for a smoke or bathroom break lol

I love the 5 minute timer but Zaph has a point. Shuttle waits were good excuses to smoke, use the little twi'leks room or switch to the other comp to do a few things with Cista or Nile. Now I gotta speed it up!
