Anyone in Hurricane Katrina's Path?
I cant believe the stories I'm reading about the mass looting thats going on in New Orleans after this. Something bad like this happens and the worms really work their way up to the surface. I'm glad I'm not a shop owner...I'd be adding to the death count for every SOB looter that I saw in my store.

Not that that will bring prices down any.Jerrel wrote:The pres is thinking about realeasing oil reserves but we wont know for sure until all damage is assessed.Jabe Adaks wrote:One thing's for sure, we're all gonna be a lot thinner... in the wallet... from gas prices...

Some of the strategic oil reserves were released during the last big hurricane to hit the gulf coast refineries, if you recall.
Last I read, they only intend to release enough to cover what should have been coming in from the refineries affected by the storms anyway. I can't remember the bpd (maybe a million?), but it isn't going to stiffle the huge price increases we have already seen.

Of course it wont. Theres nothing like using a natural disaster to put a little more gold in the pockets of OPEC.Krusshyk wrote:Not that that will bring prices down any.Jerrel wrote:The pres is thinking about realeasing oil reserves but we wont know for sure until all damage is assessed.Jabe Adaks wrote:One thing's for sure, we're all gonna be a lot thinner... in the wallet... from gas prices...

That is THE best red-neck response I have ever heard in my entire life. She totally turned the joke on southerners before any of us damn city folk yankees had the chance to do so. You get 2 kudos for that one.

Actually the release would be enough to at least cover what should be comming out of there witch in turn wouldn't change supply one bit. I think politically this give Bush the perfict chance to release more than that to help bring down the prices with out it looking like a back down from his position on the oil researves.Novall wrote:Of course it wont. Just heard on the news that a rescue helicopter took some fire so they suspended evacuation for the time being. This and the looting has made some city officials state that the police should be given orders to open fire on any looters and some politicians are calling for the millitary to move in.

the National guard has never had it worse off...
before they could collect their pay, sit at a desk one weekend a month, and all was cool...
then they're gettin shipped off to the middle east to get their ass shot off...
NOW, they have to go secure New Orleans and get shot there too...

I've just got done reading CNN, and New Orleans is starting to sound like Escape from New York.
Why is the human race not worth the breath God gave us? Why must we as a species sink to a new low all the time?
Hell, I dont know how many of you believe in God...but I know if I were him i'd say fuck this planet and burn this sucker to a cinder.

Like all news stories bad news is good news. The stories of neihbors who had boats going from building to building pulling survivors off roofs and taking them to a near by court house for refuge the day after the hurrican passed, are over looked by the media when there's a lot of bad news for them to cover and increase their rattings. We dont see the stories like that of Chris McCabee who open his house to complete strangers, refugees who where able to make it out of New Orleans (Just heard this story on Fox as I'm rwriting this). I dont question humanities humanity. For every one looter we see there are 10 Chris McCabees who we dont see. In desperate times the good and the bad rise to the occation, and the bad are the ones who get the air time. When ever you think that God should hit the reset button on humanity, Novall, think of all the good we never see on TV.
