The doc is the classical healer type from games like eq and others. His main focus are heals and buffs. CM is more focused on debuffs and dots. His healing power is not so high as a docs but he has one advantage over the doc and thats the range and the point blank heal.

A combination of melee fighter and cm isnt the smartest when the melee is a damagedealer. First you get mayor agro and thats not wanted as damagedealer and second it needs skillpoints that are wasted for a melee.

If you are a tank, and you want to be a good one, then cm is a good choice. And i explain why: The tank is no tank when he is only tkm. The damage output is low and the taunt is a joke with the long reuse time. When you up the damageoutput you wont be a better tank cause there will always someone that outdamages you (keyword rifleman). Lets build the 'perfect' tank around the tkm who is a good base. First lets add 0444 swordman. In 0004 you get accuracy boni that are always welcome and they are general, in 0040 you get defenses and again general. Now the biggest plus for the tank, the 0300 box is the key. Area taunt. But even with this template you can loose agro, to again rifleman (it sucks when the only spam specials) and to healers. When we now add 4000 cm to the mix you get first the ability to cure yourself and second to build up more agro, with bacta spray.

This all with powerboost and cob makes you a very powerful tank. And good tanks will be the key for the raidcontent thats already ingame (avatar plattform) and that will be added with the next expansion.

The only bad thing is that you are only cl77 with this template.

I thought about that.. I'm pretty sure with healing, CL does not matter. You are just an effective healer at level 60 as you are level 80 I would think.

Keeping dancer would let you give inspiration buffs as well as doc buffs before the fight

During combat, you could heal and rez.

After combat, you could heal wounds.

CM = offensive healer

DOC = defensive healer

doc vs. CM, doc wins when played right

now if you want to be good 1v1, melee stacking is still fine.

If you want group stuff, melee is OK, but ranged is king.

if you want countless hours of fun, unique talents, and highly (i mean HIGHLY) customizable strategies, be a CH combo. CH since the revamp is AMAZING, no one is doing it hardly though because it does take work to make good, but its SOOO GOOD.

but if you are hardcore sticking with melee...

i suggest speaking to nyvveck more....in general, stay away from fencer, get one tree of tka for advanced cob, and get swordsman/pike for damage.

Or you can do the triple master, tka, swords, pike or whatever it is

other than that...any doc 4-0-0-4 melee temp works pretty well.

Once you get a template, feel free to hit me up for training, gear, strats, and practice :)

My stacked melee template was:

2 branches of FS (at the time)
Master Brawler
Master TKA
Master Swordsman
Pikeman 4400

Man was it tight, I used pike as a weapon with swordsman/pike moves and did some nice damage. Even the brawler moves did excellent damage. I also had 307 melee defense with BE clothes and something like 225 ranged.

I'm glad that we still have the power of respec, because I still feel as though I'm feeling out what I like for my character. Master Doctor, especially with some of the ranged heals that are in the Medic track leading to Combat Medic, feels pretty needed for a group. Everyone can heal themselves pretty much and buffs are really like a half-hearted steroids shot now as far as I can tell, but the strength of the heals and the value of resurrection seems potent. If a group wants to go out for the really tough game, it seems like a doctor is a desired addition.

For me personally, I wanted Jinx to be a Teras Kasi Master too. It seems potent in PvE. I've noticed in combats my damage is less than what my experienced counterparts (especially of course a certain Twi'lek Jedi *g*) are dishing out but maybe my frequency of attack is slightly more? I don't know yet if TKM really feels as tough as it did before the CU. I do like the fact that I don't have to worry about armor anymore so I can skip that, but I don't know how relatively good the TKM "built-in" armor is. I have been slain quite a few times, especially trying to get used to the new combat timing and while also trying to heal comrades.

Those two professions leave me with just enough skill points to get a few more skills. In my case, so far, because I want to still have a character who does have fun, I've put those into Entertainment and those dancing skills. I know that's not even the beauty of Exotic 1, which still makes me disappointed too, but I know you can't be everything and do everything too. My two cents.

I already suggested she do this. Ekade really needs a lay out of exactly what each profession means now.

In WoW, we know immediately what a Paladin, Warrior, Priest, or Wizard's job is in a group; It seems a bit more fuzzy to her here. If someone could post exactly what each combat/healing profession's job is in a group; This may go far in helping her figure out what to do.

Now, Ekade's concept has long been that of a bladesinger really... harking back to the days of Dungeon's and Dragon's elves spinning their singing blades and lithe bodies in deadly combat. That doesn't exactly work too well with her Dancer Template here now though.

As a Priestess; I could see her with some healing replacing her dancing and perhaps giving her something familiar from WoW to work with here.

Can we get some more suggestions up here?

If your wanting to use a sword , master swords /master doc /0400 tka would be solid . The tka would give you center of being for defense , doc would give you crazy heals , and swords the solid damage . or if youd like to not have to wear armor try master swords/master tka /4000 doc and put wahtever other sp you have left in doc as well . Either would be a solid tempalte. But still if you can flirt with nyveck id try to find his out lol

I have come to know the melee professions well, so I will lay out their role (again) so its easy to decide.

TKA: A suit of armor without penalties, some good moves like knockdown but not an offensive profession. Strength: good protection. Weakness: Nil damage.

Pikeman: Mob control, inflicting states with reasonable damage to boot. Strengths: some good damage and speedy moves in here, not as much as swords though. Weakness: Only moves that offer good damage have big time cool downs.

Swordsman: Damage, damage, damage! Strengths, moves translate well with the speed of a pike weapon. Weakness: VERY high action costs, especially if you're not using an actual sword. Use a pike!

Fencer: Damage over time. Strength: Damage over time. Weakness: DoTs suck IMHO, nobody was ever really THAT uber from DoT moves.

My general opinon is to stack up melee and use a pike with swordsman moves.

Ekade, I know just how you feel. That's why I'm not a master dancer, in spite of how much fun I have with it. I've kept Dancer 0040 so that I can still do the majority of the dances.

I am a Master Doctor, and almost never have trouble finding a group. The improved heals and rez ability coupled with doctor buffs make us pretty darned useful. I had a hell of a time (in a fun way) trying to keep up with all the healing and rezzing (I don't think I've ever rezzed so many people in such a short amount of time  ) at the trip to the Bloodrazor Compound organized by Dwilah earlier this week. At CL 65, I'm not exactly uber, but I can still 'run with the big dogs' in a group. Isleh is right: I can inspire the group before combat, keep them alive (or at least rez them) during combat, and heal their wounds after combat.

I have to disagree a bit, with Mr. Dooo about the soloing. It CAN be fun, depending on one's mood. It's also very possible to solo at CL 65. One of my favorite things to do lately is to go out and solo level 80 lairs, just to see if I can do it. I can, so it can't be that hard. It's gotten to the point now that I don't even like to go after lairs at my own level - it's not challenging enough.

Anyway, that's my contribution. I'll talk to you anytime about this, Ekade. I'd love if you could keep dancing....Then, together, we could entertain the masses, and then go out and wreak destruction on some poor unsuspecting planet...

Wow!!! I love all the feedback, and I thank each of you who responded with some very useful, technical info on profs and abilities.

I have no intention of playing solo, that is just no fun.

- Seems like CM is not something I want to pursue at this time
- Sword/TKM seem really nice.. not having to worry about armor.. w00t! Can someone elaborate on the "armor" bonuses of TKM? What does it compare to, armor rating wise?
- Doctor is still tugging at me a little. Can someone compare taking some of doc (4000) versus mastering? Is dabbling in Doc better than mastering some Pike branches? Why or why not? If I dabble, what other trees should I consider?
