There's a fat one in the concept art for SWG. She looks pretty pissed, too. And my very first SWG character was a max-fat Twi'lek woman (who I still thought was attractive enough). I got all kinds of hell for it from my fellow players. I also think it's interesting that male characters' faces get more fat as you up the weight bar in character creation, but female faces don't. Since I'm just killing the hotness right here, I might as well go ahead and ask the question, what does this say about our video games and the way we portray women? What other reasons are Twi'leks so popular as a sexual icon? Is it because they are made out to be sexual slaves? Yeah yeah...I know. Shut up, Gloria, sez the rest of the people in this thread.Ekade wrote:If there were ugly/fat/not-totally-hot Twi'lek girls we may have bothered to acieve space travel.X'an Shin wrote:Y'know, I tried to find a pic of a fat female Twi'lek to bust up this thread, and the only one I could find was a thumbnail to a dead link probably from a convention from years past.

http://www.starwars.com/databank/specie ... index.htmlFew things are as graceful as a female Twi'lek in motion. This beautiful image has forever doomed generations of young Twi'leks into servitude, as the wealthy and corrupt have taken to brandishing Twi'leks as badges of prestige.
Twi'leks are tall, thin humanoids with skin pigment that spans a rainbow of colors. Their most distinctive feature is a pair of shapely prehensile tentacles that grow from the base of their skulls.
In the waning years of the Republic, the Twi'lek homeworld of Ryloth was represented in the Galactic Senate by the corpulent blue-skinned politician Orn Free Taa. Even a politician of high office was not above flaunting a pair of lovely Twi'lek aides as a sign of influence and wealth.

I was thinking much the same...
Take a step back and look at sci-fi/fantasy across the board. I mean.. how often have we seen a picture of an enchanted glade setting, with a lovely woman wearing a chainmail bikkini?
Why does Wonder-Woman have to show cleavage? Why is every comic-book heroine totally ripped, yet totally hot at the same time? Why is "quasi-futuristic" clothing do such a good job at showing us the female form?
We are talking about imagination here. Each "world" is filled with ideas that the creator(s) think are "cool". Huge space ships, dragons, superheroes, knights, mystical and exotic babes.
I don't think the portrayal of females in fantasy is necessarily bad. In many ways it is a compliment. Fantasy is art, and many feel that the female form is art as well.
To your question..
I don't think there are any "other reasons". They are popular because the idea is just hot. Sure it's cheezy.. but people like what they like. What other reasons are Twi'leks so popular as a sexual icon? Is it because they are made out to be sexual slaves?
So, going beyond "skin deep"... What I find compelling about twileks is their RP potential that comes from their history and their nature. They are very cunning, but also very spiritual. They are survivors. Many twilek roleplayes can use their common history as a springboard for RP conversations. This also implies a bond. People who have shared the same suffering can more easily identify with one another. Twileks have a strong sense of racial and cultural identity as well.
