Thanks for the reply Jabe. My comment and sarcasm wasn't geared toward the new user specifically. I understand things happen and you get to it when it is pointed out and you can get to it.
No legalese is really necessary, however the few rules they are should be adhered to somewhat. It isn't really fair to expect the general community to abide by the rules when those in positions of power walk all over the rules.
Just a few examples:
Keep the Forums on Topic
We tried to set up forums that cover broad enough categories for whatever topics you might have. When in doubt, go to the "About this Forum" and ask.
I fail to see in either the locked post or this one where this was kept on topic. This very post could have been responded to simply with a "Noted" since I was sincere in my request for a clause or disclaimer lol.
Post in Good Taste
Posting in any forum should really have no need for explicit or graphic comments, this included linking to or displaying such material. Posts that center around explicit sexual content or violence don't generally have a place at SWGTales. Comments or posts of this nature will be subject to the moderation policies set forth in this document.
Yes this can be left to interpretation, but with all the intelligent, creative people that exist here it doesn't seem there should a need for bad language.
When deemed necessary, moderators will...
1) Lock and/or move the offending thread or message if the they think it's completely inappropriate.
2) Private message the user, tell them what has happened and why. Notify the admins to inform them of the problem.
3) If the user(s) is still getting out of hand, and the offending user(s) do not respond to the private messages, or do not stop the offending behavior, repeat step 1 and step 2.
4) If the user(s) persist, the admins will get involved. If necessary, we will remove posting privileges if we have to. This is a last resort however. It really shouldn't get to that point (we hope).
Nowhere in #1 does it state "Lock and continue spamming off topic posts"
#2 never happened, but can't blame em. What are they going to say? "Um sorry but we had to lock your post because the mods went nuts."
I'm not going to press the issue further here, but I wanted you to know where I was coming from so you knew it wasn't the "new user" I was referring to in your quote.
Cheers
