Although you're right about the effect Shin, I don't think the author was trying to mislead. Just poor wording on his/her part:

He/she was just refering to ALL the dots disapparating and only seeing the green (which worked for me).

BTW - I thought the same thing you did at first and downloaded the GIF, dissassembled it and made sure it WAS, in fact removing one dot at a time.
