This is what I'm trying to change. I, myself, skip S&V at times, because I prefer other events, and need some free time. I don't skip it because it's out of character. S&V is an open event, as we have no specific person(s) running it. An open event is what you make of it. If we went by the titles, only the less sane robas would attend The Crazy Roba.

MY theory on S&V is it's usually a place where the criminals and villains can feel safe to conduct their affairs. There've been Imperial raids, rebel insurgents, and Jedi in attendance, in the past. No event, to my knowledge, excludes any denomination of our community, and an open event even less so.

Protecting the Kiva is a reasonable motivation for Batak to slip into the Despot. What if she's not present? Doesn't Batak have other friends, there, he might like to keep an eye out for? Jedi may be persecuted, but don't they still want to do good in the galaxy? Keeping an eye on the criminal underbelly is a good way to stay informed of dealings that may be prevented from causing harm to others. I wouldn't expect you to flash a saber at any event, bro...Batak could easily find a reason to attend in his usual disguise.

I appologize for not making an exception for players with connectivity issues in large crowds and certain locations. When I'm having some bad lag, most of Tatooine, Moenia and Dantooine are off limints for me. I understand why you'd skip events to avoid crashing.

My goal is to define the difference between "my character prevents me from attending" and "I would prefer to not attend."

Playing this game since day one...well day two actually since there were major issues that day...it has been very interesting to see how events have been created, advertised (and spammed), roleplayed, directed, and dissolved. Some people get emotional about it, others are very passive. The bottom line is having the opportunity. The Gorath server in my opinion is the best at giving the most options for any player to 'do' something. Right now is the best time to be in this game...in my opinion there is always something to do...it is the players that make this game, not the game that make the players.

Last night was the perfect example. The turnout the past two weeks at our Tuesday night gatherings has been lower probably due to the expansion, but I had a great night just talking (in character of course) to Batak about 'old' times. Things that may seem trivial will account for the 'fun' within this game and we should not get overwhelmed in worrying about whether or not events live on or die or whether we 'have' to attend an event.

I can't even count how many events have died from our guild. We've been around a long time and hosted many different parties, twilek only gatherings, weddings, (roleplayed) deaths for someone who is leaving, rebel vs imp fights, dualing 'fight nights'...the list goes on. (damn..has it been that many years? yikes)
