I suppose I should probably stop lurking and register soon.

PS:
I'll be playing CIV4 until i find an MMO again, if anyone wants to game
Also, isn't the STO game looking a little TOO in depth...the reason i'm not a star trek fan (in general) is because of too much detail...i kinda like the SW approach of "it just works, trust me" i don't need to know why warp drives work...they do...
I heard something like you'd be one engineer on your ship...doing that job..all the time...like a crew member..sounds cool until you realize...you'd be paying $15 a month to work a george jetson job

Yeah I am hoping it will be more intuitive than that as far as gameplay. I honestly don't know what they will be doing and I am not too sure if it will even be successful. But man I am dying to for something new either way.

But we ARE getting something new... every year or six months.
Is this the galactic sign for Nerf?

As in NOT SOE... Since SWG is going to be MMO for dummies just like WoW I may as well play anything at this point.

There's always this:

Since I still have an active WWIIOL account, I got invited into the beta for this re-worked version, and what I played of it was pretty damn cool...except trying to take out a Tiger with an M10 (still can't figure out how the US ever got away with calling that thing a tank destroyer).

Lets not confuse "dumb" with "friendly and intuitive interface" and "properly scaled leveling and quest system".
If SOE can pull this off, we may find ourselves having fun. We'll just have to see.
The way I see it.. we can't lose. If it is good, we win. If it sucks, it will be very easy to move on to something else.

Honestly I don't feel I can lose out in this deal. I hate the current game because of the breaks in it. I do feel stupid for grinding Jedi, but hey I can't do anything about that now... And my wife has been dying for this game to kill itself anyway cause she hates me playing it.
So I can't lose.

WoW = "dumby play" from my experience.
If this sucks... it'll be very hard to move on to something else because I 'liked' SWG.
So, yes, some of us very much so can lose out on an experience now. Their risking a lot on this one.
Not saying there isn't a chance this just might be fun... but I hope to heck they do NOT make this World of Star Wars. But, that is the feeling I'm getting about it. Sans... FPS edition.

AOL has a friendly and intuitive interface but I wouldn't be caught dead using it.

Ok... I've got to throw in a Star Wars qoute somewhere to relate to how we're all feeling... hopefully this one fits.
"This was never a condition of our agreement!...."
SOE as Darth Vader, "Perhaps you feel you are being treated unfairly?"
"...this deal keeps getting worse all the time."

I would have to disagree. In the upper level instances, it's certainly not dumbed down. Wow is a challenging game in many aspects and you have to develop stradegies on how to take down enemies and alot of it has to do with grouping with skilled players. Players that know how to hold aggro, who can heal you properly and keep the team alive.
WOW also has templates just like SWG does(talents) that allow you to customize game play the way you want to play.
