Back to being disgusted again..

Thought I was missing something when I couldn't figure it out, but to know its gone with no plans to fix it.. ouch. Compounded with the fact that emotes are a major ass pain with targeting as it is, looks like they're killing the roleplayers' fun.

I'm really hoping Tiggs takes into consideration pushing for even a small (big) thing like walking being put back in. I can't imagine running around at our events. : p

What I'm starting to like:

1) It sounds like CL vs CL all professions are balanced out now. Although, I think they could've done this without using Clone technology. Heh, pun intended there.

2) It sounds like we get 'simplified' complex combat. Glazing an area with bombs by one clicking a target area. Not using a power pack to recharge our blaster to, instead, punch the assaulting NPCs or PvPers. With dumby down weapons. Good and bad here.

3) Sounds like our interface can still mimic what we have and the keymapping isn't too different.

What I still don't like:

1) SOEs PR with the community it's trying to provide this service too.

2) They didn't need to take out a good 66% of the Professions to do some of this.

3) Damn it... I want my walking!

A got to play on TC for a bit.

Comments:

- There WILL be a lot of Jedi. 90% of the toons I saw on TC were Jedi.

- The dark skinned twilek dancer in the cantina is hot

- I got bored.. lol. I want to get to Mos Eisley, but Han tells me I am not strong enough. Don't make me GRIND in the damn tutorial! That's just wrong. What level do you need to be to get out of the starter area?

- The starter quests were nicely done. I did not feel lost. This should help new players a great deal.

- Combat at that low level was dull. When you have 1 or 2 specials.. there is not much you can really do. I expect it will be more fun at higher levels. As such.. I did not get a good feel for what our combat experience will really be like.

Unfortunately I expected this, however I feel most of the Jedi will just be ignored by me. I ignore most of them now anyway, so unless they RP I don't really care. I just hope we're able to keep a diverse group of RP professions here and not 90% of this community goes Jedi.

I just listen to the Khachaturian Saber Dance...

Okay, Now there is speculation on the SOE forums that the walks were sped up to let everyone grind out the missions as fast as possible because of the limited time.

I also noticed the top speed on my noob Syck for space had a speed of 500. Isn't the live game noob ship much slower?

The more I read the boards on Galaxies and get feedback here the more I'm seeing the rundown of the new game being something like this:

What we get:

Vets (Now Eldars?) will recieve some goodies based on their profession.

We still get our character slot caps; But now everyone can have up to 2 toons on a given server.

We get to choose between 9 professions (2 of which seem to be Non-cons completely now) with the following options: a) We can use Vet Tokens to switch up to 10 times between professions or b) Use our 'old' ADKs, now called NPKs to drop a profession and start over at CL 1 in a new profession.

Where the game is going:

The PvP no longer seems singled out. No Alpha classes so we're basically all on equal 'combat' footing (Ents and Arties aside) at the same Combat Level.

Our effectiveness appears to be in the ability to click repeatedly over a target now as opposed to Tab locking. However, we can also 'glaze' area with certain profession specials. My impression is that this is going to make our equipment mean just as much as it does now; but dumbied down. Damage and Speed from the sound of it.

Faster paced with lower damage caps means rarity of an item (flawless lightsaber pearls or a rare weapon drop) are not as important as they are now when considering if you can 'hit' the target.

A foggy issue is with keeping the complex crafting system with no item decay (rumored to be only upon death as it stands now) makes me wonder what the player economy will be like in the new game. It sounds like we've got a merger of our current economy system with a WoWesque one being put in to.

We've got to do things like 'change clips' in our blasters from the sound of it as well.... so, maybe this is where the make up for item decay is going to come from.

With no PvP missions now... I can only hope the emphasis is going to be put more toward Faction fighting now.

I would say we've got an overall WoWesque game in the short of it looking at us.

Things we're still waiting to find out:

Will we walk again?
Will chat channels be resolved to be the same as they are now?
What will happen with Player Cities?

Again, this new game does seem to make us one of nine clones running around. However, we may get a surprise and it not be as bad as we think. We wanted more challenge than just grinding lairs. Well, now there is the challenge of even hitting your target. /shrug

We wanted equality of the classes. Well, no one is special anymore.

It seems the worst thing about this entire mess has been the fact that PR with SOE has never been very forthcomming until the last minute. I don't see this changing. I am willing to try out this new game though. I'm still not happy with how it was handled however.

N.G.E. = New Game 'Enchantment'. Give it up for the 'other' game.

A little more digging and it appears that Power Ups are going bye bye as well.

I'm not sure if their re-instating them later to go along with the Combat conversion or what really. But there was something on TC about removing them from game as of now.

Since it appears Slicing is staying... this may be the only tinkering you get to do with your weapons.

My opinion... this is the part of the NGE that makes me scream FPS. Mainly because it sounds like be it a Republic Blaster, Proton Carbine, or Ryyk Blade... everything will potentially only have a very limited Base Damage range; and thus do the same damage as with a FPS. Who hits who first basically.

Please tell me there is some variation in this? Anyone.

Right -- good point. Looking through the most likely candidate class for Jinx, medic, it seems like only one kind of buff would survive and a kind of neat sounding "lasting" bacta heal that gradually works on the target in a positive direction. Other than that, group revive? I mean, am I picturing my fellows all around me incapacitated, near death, and I could bring a whole group back into the fight? Other than that, an apparent psychotic ****-load of nervous system and caustic biological weapons attacks for the "do no harm" profession. Hey, I can't complain too loud, at least I might still be able to fight.

Well I finally got on last night, made it through to the station and did several of the quests. I have to say from both a new player and an old star wars nerd point of view it was a lot of fun, very Star Wars-ish, and enjoyable. It was nice to have more interaction with Star Wars characters, be trained by a Jedi not hiding out as an entertainer, and the EQII-esque quest/reward system is nice too.

As an old player who is still trying to cope with the fact that I've wasted 2 years of my life it still sucks.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the game hopefully continues this once I leave the newb zone and if I stick around once it goes live I may use my ADK for Hammar or maybe even reroll him since I dont know if using that enables you to start from scratch like at player creation.
