To make things easier during combat, I also bound my first (and some more) specials to keys near the WASD (the way I had them in all FPSs - like highest dmg special is on my Q key, while healing special is on E key, deathblow macro of R key, stun attack on F and poison on X).
I also had to keep the new mode of the spatial chat window so it doesn't interfere with WASD movement.
All great idea's, can all these be done through the keymapping? I'll have to look into it more when I get home again.

Last night was just making it liveable. But that's some great info there.

Well I finally quit PvP'ing and got out to PvE and realized what everyone is talking about, the game is retarded.

Amen. You can't even target anything. Between toggling the WASD keys for movement, the alt key for changing the cursor, the specials and keeping the mouse on your target, it's almost impossible for me to really PVE. Maybe I'm just not coordinated, I don't know.

I don't mind the combat in and of itself. I just hold down the mouse key and do auto-fire and spray the bolts at whatever target we're going for. I don't like not having "sticky" targets, though.

I don't like that a lot of the specials are hard to see...you can't tell what you're doing. It seems like they've undone a lot of the visually helpful changes of the CU.

HOWEVER I hesitate to totally throw this in the trash, as I remember the CU being really hard to get used to at first.

I haven't had much trouble with PvE yet, it seems easier than PvP since your targets are usually running at you and then stop to bite/claw off parts of your flesh unlike the other which runs around nonstop. It also seems somewhat familiar just because of the FPS/Jedi Academy feel of it. I just wish they would really add in force jump and a crouch/roll.

I posted it under bugthread earlier, but here it is:

using specials properly:

When I hit a special, my action drops 3 seconds later. And target receives damage 4 up to even 7 seconds later! The critical moment here is 2 seconds after firing a special. I noticed that if I fire a special and start unloading normal shots right away, I spam the network communication and my special will not take any effect. Sure, counter will be active but action will not drop 3 sec later and damage will not appear 4 sec later. Important thing is to count two seconds of inactivity after using a special. That way network is clean and you will for sure get action drop and damage on target later. Counting properly will make you hit 100% all specials "right on the money"!

There is obviously a random-length internal server lag (probably queued requests) and therefore you get 4 to 7 sec delay until target damage and of course the crucial moment around 2 seconds after special has been fired - when client is communicating I guess.

I read they have isolated the internal lag problems and are testing a hotfix, of course I have heard this about a few things as well, but lets hope... the lag on any action is very hard to deal with right now. I think the combat will be a bit more easy to work with if they get the lag problems worked out.

Seems i got lucky in the fact i have 2 controllers that work great with this game, only thing i really use the keyboard for now is chat. The 2 controllers i have are from my CS and C&C days, both work fine. They are the Microsoft Strategic Commander and the Nostromo N50 Speedpad. The microsoft controller has alot more depth as in rebinding keys to it, you can pretty much rebind most of you keyboard to it as well as button macros, but the movement is a little strange as in you slide it around kinda like a mouse. The N50 is much better as far and movement but less keys to rebind with. Both work alongside your mouse.

I've got a nostromo that I use for space. Keeps me from using anything else but the thumb buttons of my joystick.

As a side note to add to my Bad list, why did SOE have to get rid of the Trade Forums? That was the only reason I ever went to those forum's really and dang it I miss it.

Also anyone heard anything about the hotfixes going out yet? I want my profession rewards.

Right now, this game isn't worth spending money on to buy a Nostromo Speedpad. Everyone should be able to play this game without stupid accessories.

Trade forums are still there, they are just grouped under Galaxies aren't they?

Ah I guess so, I wonder why it deleted my bookmark.

Hashum wrote:Movement I wish there was an easier way to move the direction you wanted. You need the keyboard to "Move" and the mouse to point yourself in the right direction. Do Joysticks work? This may help cut down on some of the movement issues.
I was able to make one of my extra mouse buttons to move forward, that helped me a lot. Though I want to find the perma-forward move like the Numlock key, so I can have that back as I had it.
