Publish 24: The Flea Nerf

Well, there are 130 odd quests available now. Even at CL 82 I made advancement doing the Tatooine part of the Lecacy Quest to CL 83. Give or take a couple thousand xp. I'm still advancing on Naboo as well.

There are other ways. But they do make us revisit some old places like Jabba's Palace to do it. I've been enjoying it. Some cool new locations... some old ones finally being used (a maze on Tatooine); And a pretty good story to go with it.

Theres more than fleas.

However, the game's content hasn't changed. We've gotten NEW quests, if anything, and a brand new expansion. We've gotten a new chance to level more slowly. The devs are saying hey, slow down. Why do you have to grind so fast? Stop and smell the roses of this new system. Take it slow, learn it.
What new loot have we gotten in the original game? All I've looted since test are organs, brains and livers. That's not my idea of loot. We've gotten new quests in the original game from levels 1-30. So, unless you've purchased the expansions you have no content. People have enjoyed the game capped at level 80 because they've CREATED their own content(which are/were brillant, I might add =) Let's look at XP...the experience given per kill is negligible. I would definately say repeatable quests for loads of xp wasn't the best way to go about it though.

I've not seen a developer on the "Dev Tracker" come out and say "stop grinding, take time to learn the new system". It's all smoke and mirrors.

If anything, I think there's a lot of people who've just played the game for a very long time and have been wishy washy about leaving, and this just gives them a good excuse for quitting.
Yes, I'm one of those wishy washy people. I'm quitting because it's a matter of principle. That's not an excuse, it's conviction. I refuse to become a apologist for SOE. It's like being in an abusive relationship and always coming back even though they hurt you. Obviously, this analogy may be a bit exaggerated but it's the only way I can think to formulate what I'm trying to say. I love this community and the interaction(although I haven't interacted with most of you). I just can't stand with the community on this one.

Highlight ftw! :D

I think what Dwilah is trying to do is encourage us to not all give up hope but step back and consider for a moment, if we aren't being too hasty. Not as much backing or apologizing on behalf of SOE and she is right, its worth considering on a day we're perfectly calm :D
Not for SOE, they had their chances with me. For the wonderful roleplayer we've shared over the years.

I say this while being on leave status with my guild and the owner of a brand new already lvl 20 char in EQ2 (eww another SOE game) while I'm giving the Dev's a little time to get their collective shit together.
I keep my fingers crossed.

I will defend SOE, again.
Apparently (to me) repeating one quest over and over again (as far as I know this is what is happening, right?) classifies at least as buggy. Even if this is not the case, earning 50k XP per 15 minutes on Mustafar compared to the grind on Dantooine (60-80k XP per hour) is discriminatory to the players who don't own Mustafar (and I am one of them and will continue to be). This is why this move is understandable to me.

Now, since most of you allready own Mustafar (and I also doubt you asked for a refund even if you felt 'bent over' by NGE following Mustafar), you can bitch about taking away the opportunity to earn large ammounts of XP very fast. Now, put yourelf into the opposite position. Imagine you don't own Mustafar exansion and SOE increases XP only on Mustafar. What would you say then? I'm not trying to put words into your mouth, but I guess it would be something like: "Damn SOE and their coercive politics, now I even have to buy expansion in order to be able to level out my character fast. That's it. I'm leaving."

I have a theory the devs that post and we see at the conventions are just front men. The real devs is a large group of rabbid monkeys with harmonicas.

honestly i think two monkeys working on nicotine and coffee couldve put together better "enhancements" at times than the SOE dev team.. but then again this is what we get when they transfer people over from everquest to SWG

True true and these monkeys would have harmonicas so they'd be better than the average monkey.

How about the people that finished all the quests? If the quests on all the other planets were working "as intended" this would not be a big deal. Unfortunately Mustafar is the only viable grind becasue the rest of the content is broken.

I ran the Rebel theme park a couple days ago. It's completely irrelevant, it sneed updating. No XP... and the quest rewards? 50 - 100 credits. Yeah that was a lot at launch maybe its chump change now.

I don't think they Mustafar flea camp should exist. But I do think they need to offer other viable means for leveling if they are going to nerf the only one that currently exists.

Let's see, one movie with popcorn...$17.

One evening at a club, with cokes, cover charge, parking ... but let us not include buying the clothing and the detergent or dry cleaning afterward...$35 to $60, depending on your city.

Of course, there is the no-need-to-talk-with-your-companion, because you will make enemies in the movie if you chat and/or you can't possibly scream louder than the music in a club.

On the other hand, there is this game where I spend $15 a month (ok, $30), get to talk with other people, get seduced into actually learning something about computers rather than being an airhead end-user, get to study guy-humor (which is full of perplexing rules), get introduced to topics that I was previously ignorant of, get to grind in a completely different way than the ratrace in RL, get to try out different ways to decorate a house without having it trashed by dog fur and junk mail/bills and school work, and get to pretend that I wiggle these slugs on my head ... in a meaningful manner.

Sure, I could do all those things in another game (except wiggling slugs). In fact, I do. But these other games haven't provided me with the peculiar assortment of friends I have met in this game. Frankly, pure combat type games are a bore, and pure economy games are a bore. Pure socializing games are stressfull (you have to pay attention ALL the time). Despite everything, the massive changes...the bugs...the lag...the weird way the PR department does PR, this game really does provide a wide variety of experiences.

BTW, the flea grinders appear to be more discontented than the ones who are trying to find out what else is now in the game.

Jabe. People have gotten used to grinding a profession in four days. If they push XP back now, everyone bitches. People only see the goal - go to CL90 as fast as possible. And then? Quit the game out of boredom I guess.

If XP was nerfed into oblivion from the start, and perhaps (exponential) combat level decay introduced, we would have much more interesting surroundings composed of players with various levels and almost none at the top. But now all we have is top dogs (well, now we are in a short transition).

The problem is not that there are no other high-XP-load quests. Problem is this high XP gain slipped through and now that it is being corrected, people rant. It is plain wrong to allow people to advance so fast. It destroys the game. Why is everyone calling for new content? Everyone is CL80 (90) and all the existing content piece 'o cake comparing to that, thus broken. Having now people at 90 will destroy that little high end content that is left (unless they adjust combat levels for mobs).
