Second Slot in Pub 26....maybe :)
i agree with you jabe. suddenly niot a big deal to be jedi now that everyone can be one it suddenly isnt a problem. Which makes even less sense than hating them in the first place. (course i hated them at one point to so who knows, least i admit i talked crap about jedi hehe)

Sorry, it was a liitle smart assed, but its kinda a reflex most of the time
I understand how jedi feel, but I also understand that alot of people didn't want to be jedi, and something like a second slot was always high on their wish list, I know it was on mine.
I dont want to turn this into a jedi argument more than it has been, I like the fact we finally get a second slot. Thats all.

When you start using words like "opression", "busting my ass", "mindless grind", "not enjoying myself while others did" to describe a game?DuoXDuoX wrote:Our second slot was because of opression lol yalla re getting it at no cost lol
This sounds almost like geezing.
Back in my day, we had to work to get it unlike you young whippersnappers. It wasn't given to us! Jedi were hunted! As a padawan you got beat down by a bottom scrapping BH or ganked by a group or 'em. Enjoy the game? Ha! Becoming a Jedi was my second job! HA! My character lived in a hole in the ground for 2 months straight not seeing anything but ugly genosians and I was thankful to get it!

Honestly, the grind may be gone. But there is one thing that can't be taken away or given to a respec Jedi.
The satisfaction you got for actually doing it.

I must admit the idea of a 2nd char slot didn't impress me much as a reward. We had five accounts and were about to order a 6th and we played them all often at the same time. None of our toons were or were going to be jedi and we were happy with what we had.
the 2nd char slot was a not a big carrot for either me or my husband. What I wanted was the bugs fixed and the game I loved.
I still sit and ask why are they doing this? because factoring in all the reasons I still see no good grounds for such a sweeping up rooting change.

Sure it's nothing you can take to the bank but if you are looking for that, then you shouldn't be wasting your time playing a game.Skorixor wrote:that and 50 cents will get you a cup of coffeeIsleh wrote:Honestly, the grind may be gone. WoW gives you 10 character slots per server.
SWG now gives you 2. You used to just get 8 characters total.
2 characters is, truly, the very least they can do.

Well the supposed "purpose" of the NGE was to make the game appeal to a broader audience. Given the simplification of the profession system down to the 9 iconic professions, I see SOE making more character slots available at some point down the road. If not, then they will never really be able to compete so to speak, with the other MMOs people are enjoying.
I can totally understand Jabe's point of view since I've "been there, done that". I really wanted to play a Jedi and the second slot was a nice reward. It wasn't about having the alpha class for me, I just really wanted to play as a Jedi and I mainly kept to PvE. I did 5 holos back in the day, then said screw it and remained DE/WS for quite a long time until the village came out and even then I took my sweet ass time and in fact didn't even unlock until the day before the CU (close call).
So while I did my fair share of grinding and "work" I can also understand Dew's viewpoint. Neither view is wrong per se - they are both just different perspectives. For folks like Jabe and myself much of this has been a bitter pill to swallow. For other folks that perhaps wanted to play Jedi, but didn't want their "entertainment" to become a second full time job, it was a nice surprise.
I'm still getting used to the new system and while I still don't have a huge interest in PvP like Toront did, I'm still happy with what I got for being a vet. Between the Elder robes, the village buff crystals, and now the mustafar loot no one buying the game tomorrow will have all that. Not to mention no one will ever have the awesome memories us old folks do of the original SWG.
If nothing else SWG has proven that the general populace isn't ready for a "smart" MMO since apparently it was too complex for many folks.

I can see it both ways. But aren't we all just about tired of arguing about what is right or wrong about it?
I grinded too; I always felt it should've been a starter class to begin with and we should've been able to put all of our slots on the same server. Sounds an awful lot like 'That Other Game'; but I got bored with 'That Other Game' because it copies so many Hack N' Slash 'Fantasy' Motiffs it just became... Meh. Either way there will be others that disagree with me; it's a fact of Life.
There is still magic in Star Wars; And I think this was a move in the right direction. We're going to have differing views on anything regarding the game anyway; Not really what I'd call griping so much as venting some frustrations that we all need to do. Just keep your thoughts open to the 'other point of view' as well.

I really hadn't planned on turning it into an arguement, just reporting some news, news I happened to be happy about. I can understand from others point of view, but after awhile the negativity wears on you
