Everything you need to know about the SW DVDs

Well it better. I mean other than how Luke and Leia come to be and are hidden, this IS the most important part of the entire story.

I am in the process of numbing myself to all further forms of these DVD changes and whatever may come in the future.

Thanks Mr. Lucas for the good times. The Star Wars that I love, well it's spirit still exists in the art of Ralph McQuarrie. I look at his work and my imagination does the rest.

As far as Episode 3, it should have been subtitled : "Georgieeee, You Got a Lot of 'Xplainin' To Doooo" ( in 2 hours and change).

He'll fix it all in episode 3.5 the re release of episode 3 in 20 years when new technology arises that allows him to recreate the movie in the original image he had for it. Thus making it perfect and all who oppose the change will be labeled fools.

Totaly true. Even the usualy quite good actors did a miserable job in some scenes in Episode 1 and 2 and i would not blame them but just the director.

I was especialy disappointet by Christopher Lee's role as Dooku after he did such an outstandig job as villain in Lord of the Rings. Count Dooku just seems so boring, there's nothing interesting about him as the bad guy and not even all of Christopher Lee's acting experience can save the what Lucas did to the character.

But i just know, that i will be hot for those DVDs and as soon as Episode 3 hits the cinemas i will be at the first midnight show, all excited, cheering the loudest as soon as the Star Wars title shows up on the big screen.
Just as i did at Episode 1. And Episode 2, though i already should have known better after Episode 1.

I read a hilarious review a while back that spoke of Christopher Lee's role in Episode 2.

They basically desribed his role in Lord of the Rings perfectly (on purpose). It was exactly the same.

- Serving and evil master
- Secretly building and army
- "magical" duel with his foe
- etc.

Oh yes, both parts had much in common, just in Lord of the Rings Lee managed to fill his charakter with life, while in Star Wars he stayed all flat, blame it on the director and the story. But i don't think we need to argue about the qualities of Episode 1 and 2.
I don't dislike both movies as much as other people, but they have still been, at some points, disappointing even to me.

I really hate to further rumor, but has anyone heard of a "Platinum Edition Star Wars DVD" scheduled for release after these new ones slated for 09/21

Take this with a fistfull of salt but I heard through the Krayt Vine that there is a "Platinum Edition" coming out sometime before Episode 3 that will have the original versions of the movies given the same digital enhancement without all of the changes mentioned in the upcoming DVD releases.

Meaning Solo will shoot first again, but with all of the quality that will go into the disks shipping on the 09/21. No solid proof, but I have to say it soooo fits the DVD scam that everyone runs.

"If you liked the Star Wars DVD Trilogy, you'll LOVE the Platinium Edition originals now on DVD!"

And the release order fits too. They'd make more money releasing the originals last.

Anyone hear anything about this? I hate rumor, but I'm seriously considering waiting on these DVD's. If the originals come, I won't want the rest, personally.

A few days ago i've heard rumors about a "limited edition" coming out, though nobody really knew anything specific about it, just that there seems to be more to come than just the DVD-box next monday.

Maybe it's just coincidence, but it could be about a release of the original movies, i'll try to get some more info about it.

I think Lucas has ONE great burst of creative thought with StarWars...and he's been trying to catch that ONE burst over and over, but failing miserably each time. He doesnt want them to such...but they do. He's literally beating the horse to death.

Lucas = Writer/Thinker

Spielburg = Director/The Man.

IF these two were to team up again on a movie...the possiabilities could momentous.
