Top 5 Characters in Film
Ok...I had to think about this for a few days...but I think this is my list. I'm kinda disturbed that there are no female characters in my top five, but I guess that you always relate the most with characters that are most like you. I do have to say that Jodi Foster in Anna and the King almost made the top six (I couldn't decide on just 5), so she DOES deserve some mention.
6. Lt. Nicholas Holden (Tony Curtis) - Operation Petticoat

I think every guy that's ever seen Operation Petticoat wishes he was more like this guy.
5. Mortimer Brewster (Cary Grant) - Arsenic and Old Lace

I've found that people either really love or really hate Cary Grant. I tend to like him a lot, his comedic and dramatic range was great and he gave a lot of life to the characters he played. Mortimer Brewster is a great character...Someone who realizes his entire family (and most likely himself) is nuts just when he thinks his life is perfect. I think this character embodies a feeling everyone has at one time or another in their life...that moment when you're sitting at a family Christmas gathering and look around at your family and think, "How the hell did I turn out normal?".
4. Oddball (Donald Sutherland) - Kelly's Heroes

Let's face it, this character is so bizaare, you just have to love him and his "positive waves". Who would have ever thought a 1960's hippy of a character would ever work so well in a WWII film?
3. Jim Hardy (Bing Crosby) - Holiday Inn

I love "Nice Guy" characters and this one is the best example out there. He follows his heart in a search for happiness...too bad Fred Astair keeps stealing his girlfriends.
2. Han Solo (Harrison Ford) - Original Star Wars Trology

My definition of smooth since I was 5. Everyone else wanted to be Luke and have a lightsaber...but I was the only kid on my block to always have his trusty DL-44 at his side where ever he went (even if the damn thing sounded like a dying cat when you pulled the trigger).
1. Quint (Robert Shaw) - Jaws

My favorite character of all time. Badass. Funny. Human.
6. Lt. Nicholas Holden (Tony Curtis) - Operation Petticoat

Ooh I'd love to put Quint in my top ten and if not he's tied with someone in there.

I agree. One of my all-time favorites and I never get sick of watching it. Just an awesome, awesome movie.Ringo Montgomery wrote:Verbal Kint was close on my list...obviously the best ending to a movie ever. I wanted to include him badly on my list, but didn't have room on my top 5. Thank you for including him, I was hoping desperately someone would; quite possibly the most underrated movie ever.Raevas Kreig wrote:5 favorite movie characters of all time:

Ya know what is it about that movie? While I do like the film and think its a well done story my wife can honestly watch it once a day. Its almost uncanny how popular that movie is.Hashum wrote:

Debbie Reynolds. And yes, one of the greatest all around entertainers (singing, acting, dancing) of her time.Hashum wrote:

Singing In The Rain, maybe the best all around movies (singing, acting, dancing  ) ever.

Well for starters it's Natalie Portman. I could watch any movie with her in it once a day. Secondly it's just a great story, a down on her luck woman who just lives a great life. I guess I'd relate it to a female version of Forest Gump.

I was thinkin James Earl Ray when I saw that to. Ugh...That must be rough on James Earl Jones to be a prominant black man and named so close to MLKjr's killer.TramelRaggs wrote:Vader was voiced by James Earl Jones, not to be confused with James Earl Ray, who shot Martin Luther King.Jerrel wrote:1) Darth Vader (Earl Ray Jones) in Star Wars
