I'm glad it was a success! Let me know if you wil be hosting another in the future. If there is an afterparty, you know I will be all over that. :D

I wanted to show, but by the time I got on, it was over. It seems like I miss all the good RP events going on now

I'd like to share the way the race runs because I think maybe it confused things a little as far as planning. The reason I stressed RSVP so much with this event is because everyone who's racing has to be added as admins to the race stop buildings (you have to run inside each and grab a "marker" to prove you had been there). Though we didn't have any this time, I'd hate for somebody showing up wanting to race and not being able to because they weren't on the list beforehand.

Also. another suggestion

What about a /findfriend macro for the racers that updates every few seconds? You could track the racers on the world map then.

I'm really sorry I missed it. I got home and crashed. Started a dance course IRL and they kicked my butt.

I just don't understand what the poll terminals would be used for. =)

I think find friend only works for one person at a time...I had everyone in a group, so I sort of could see how far away everyone was because fortunately the group arrows/distance away numbers weren't glitching for me as I stayed in the same spot the whole time.

If you want to do future races, Dwi, Gaaralow and I came up with using player judges (rather than markers in houses) as well as a system for betting on the races. It never took off due to turnout, so I have all but given up.

I think the biggest factor for making races in SWG fun is collision. Bikes can't collide, so there's no jockeying for position. If that existed I think you'd see alot more racing and racing events.

Sorry, Ballot Box Terminals. How do they work? Can they be set up so that when a person uses one, the race cooridinator gets an email?

I dunno...it'd be great if they could. Something to look into. Good idea. :)

And yeah--Zannon mentioned y'all's betting system but not the mechanics. People have expressed interest in racing again, or racing for the first time if they missed this one. Maybe you could get with me in game or via PM and we could chat about it or sumfin.

And I agree about collision...that's why I try to make the courses interesting. Make the terrain vary a lot, try to put NPC cities or player cities in the path of the course (you gotta make decisions about turns, in some cases deal with lag), and sometimes if you get really lucky you can work it out to have NPC spawns that will attack racers. Like the Tuskens on this course. Which I thought was bitchin. Plus having to get off your bike and get an item slows people up, it's easy to make mistakes and it makes it a little bit more fun than just riding around.

If there was nothing to break up the points, it'd just be a straight shot the whole way pretty much.

I have more fun when the race isn't easy...and fighting to stay upright with Zannon, while the Tuskens played ping-pong with us, was great-fun.

Next time, I'll bring some random junk to drop in the houses to confuse people. ;)
