That's good info! I wasn't aware of Dath's quarantine status. Annnd it offers a new angle on the whole situation

Premise #1: Now for sure the stranded group would have some overriding reason to go to Dathomir. They're all breaking the law to go to a dangerous place. Why?

Premise #2: Or if we want to avoid the question in #1, the crash could still have been due to a hyper-jump malfunction as Ekade stated. In this second case, there could still be the Imperial escorting a prisoner because they were never meant to come to Dathomir in the first place. The escort would have been planned to another location before the accident.

An additional question could then also be "will the Empire punish us for accidentally being here?"

The escort is just one element of a possible few. It doesn't even have to be included. Just an idea for audition.

The event still is rich in possibilities.

Yea, that works. It also brings about some more interesting twist. Does the Imperial know about the prison there and attempt to course the group there for aid, or is he mearly an unknowing underling without access to such highly restricted information? On the other end of the spectrum, maybe a Rebel happens to have heard of the prison and tries to course the group into unwittingly mounting a prison break.
