Well at any rate IE7 is coming and I am kinda excited about that. I was on the beta test team for Win95/MSN and IE 1.0 (I got on in 94). I supported the browser loyally for over 10 years and still do to some degree (most of my ASP apps will only run on IE).
So I got no hate, its just that MS got too comfortable with 96% share and let things slip. The fact that I am using Firefox (as well as millions of others) and that IE usage is down to 89% has resulted in IE7 will no longer be an exclusive to the next release of Windows.
Competition is good, suipporting other browsers is good and everyone is benefitting from that now.
On a side note, since I am back relishing over my beta test days.. Win95 was code-named Chicago and all the standards built around it were named after various suburbs. Two of which that I know that are still used today are the Cicero Window framing system and the Joliet file system that gave CD's long file name capability.. I also happen to be from Joliet.
