And storm troopers are more in the wrong for being there than rebels are for shouting at them. I dont remember ever hearing about a storm trooper flirting with a twi'lek or telling jokes with a wookiee and i see that on regular basis.
And if the rebels dont want to hide they dont have to cause im officially done with the beaten dog act.
I think Storm troopers need a stronger aura to them. In the movie, luke gets one round off from a lower position and kills a storm. The strom is at a higher angle and can fire down on luke yet he still dies even after years of accuracy training.
Anyhow, The rebellion was known for many hit and run attacks on a regular bases which should be in the game I think.

Not everyone who claims to roleplay is a good roleplayer.
You can be 100% certain there will be at least 1 of these types of people present at an event to ruin what would otherwise be a good time.
The Roba is an RP free-for-all. Many times this turns out to be a good thing, other times it does not.
The only thing that irks me is that, time after time, the empire shows up and a couple of rebel "roleplayers' act like it is a complete joke. My sense of immersion goes right out the window when that happens.
On the topic of buffs... the RP community here generally believes that combat is more realistic without doctor buffs. It is very hard to justify a "superman mode" in an RP sense. Having to get buffed before an RP event is ridiculous. We came to the consensus that we will do without.

The only time we hear from someone fron TTF is when there is a problem at the Roba. Get your people here so we can all collaborate on some RP!!!
Goofball.
In truth, roleplayers do not talk about their website IC. It's bad form.

I think we kind of have to accept that when it's a free for all that 'we're' not in charge of; We have to accept that bad things might happen.
The solution is pretty much we, as a community, start playing out of Nocturnus and Mos Tera more. Or, we suck it up, and drive on at Roba with a buyer beware attitude for the night.
And perhaps a better solution is to sanction our 'own' party on Friday Nights. And those that want to go to Roba still can. I think we're really looking for options here. And this seems to be one of the better ideas we could go with. There is life after Roba and party too. But at least at our own establishment we'd have more control of the atmosphere for the night.

Is the soloution trying to control the atmosphere, or just not letting bad RP bother you?
My mindset has never been to avoid people who were not the greatest roleplayers, but rather to show them how it is done.
Thusfar we have avoided coming up with any hard and fast rules on RP. The closest thing to a rule we have ever mentioned is "use common sense and lead by example."

I'm sorry but I still think buffs are justified... At least until the combat change comes out. I myself, being a master doctor... With stats adjusted to take on big creatures solo IE: Krayt Dragons, have to have my stats at 400 health, 400 action, and everything else into mind in order to do things like this.
Now I could go and find an image designer and get my stats re-adjusted before every single RP event in case there is a fight, I do not. I can buff myself, so I do. I have a whole lot of points that entitle me to the ability to buff myself, and I roleplay that they are muscle stimulants. Is this fair? Why not? I dont come in with a full set of composite armor, with all the best foods eaten. I am merely able to hold my own if a fight arrises.
I am only a Master Swordsman. Unfortunately, the guy who has dedicated all of his skill points to Fencing/TK/Whatever else, will whore me in an unbuffed fight, period.
I play with what I have to play with. Period.
Was there ever a rule that stating defensive stacking is not allowed to be used in RP? Has this ever come up? Is it possible to come up?
Now...
Do I like how the combat system is? No.
Do I think buffs are legitimate? Everyone can have them.
Do I feel buffs bring a level of realism? Not a bit.
Do I have to use them in order to survive? Yes.
Now I dont run around challenging everyone I see to a duel either... I act tough, its in Rebeccas nature, but I try not to be a prick. The people who are wreck these things. The GOD MODE as Jabe adequatley described it.
As for supermen fighting... I really think that people being able to perform their special attacks is the least of our concerns. I think people breaking out into random fights with weapons that normally are considered DEADLY are the real problem.
Why does everyone act like they dont care if they die? Well, I know the answer to that. Because of cloning, a backbone to the SWG system that none of us can deny. Personally, I'd prefer perma death, but thats just the hardcore roleplayer inside of me.
I think if you and an "enemy" in say... S&V night, decide to blast apart the room with carbines and pistols, the loser shouldn't just stand up with a smile and the winner go "Yay, bragging rights for the next 30 seconds... Until someone else challenges me to a duel."
In fact, I think if you want to get rid of the unrealism of BUFFING, you should get rid of the unrealism of dueling.
You wanna come to an RP night and fight? Come as a Special Forces member of your faction. That should be the only way its justified.
And if you die. Stay away for the remainder of the night.
One more point I thought of... I myself being a master doctor do have the distinct advantage of being able to heal myself repeatedly and quickly. How long until this action is deemed unrealistic and unfair?
I just think this whole thread is a whole lot of hype about something that can easily be made fair. What is it... Like a month and a half before the combat change? Lets all just relax and play how we play.
Sorry this post was allover the boards... Just a bunch of random different thoughts I had while reviewing this particulair list of ideas.

buffed: at least 20 shots to incap a player (melee too)
unbuffed: at least 3-4 shots to kill someone (melee too)
in the movies: one shot killed most people
realistically: 1-2 overcharged shots to kill
thats why unbuffed fighting is a must IMO, its just not realistic to me to watch someone get shot in the face a whole bunch of times, or to see a fencer hack away at someone over and over...
I understand ham issues Teras Kasi with a vk (ham 33/50/33) attacking once every second drains ham just like a carbineer, in fact every melee weapon has heavy ham (a few exceptions). but there are definate ways around ham use.
Examples:
-a fencer could use a vibro blade (ham 13/24/13).
-a pistoleer could use a scout blaster (ham 11/22/11).
-dont forget the bleeds, not only do they DOT, but they wound substats causeing the other player to use more ham.
-food/spice (like isleh said, there are lots of foods to boost stats, including
"vercupi" not sure on spelling, but for 67+ fill it adds 2000+ ham for 8 mins)
-medic, use stims <=== thats a good one to remember :P
as a gunfighter whats wrong with a quick bleed shot, followed by suppression fire, then get out of line of sight? or for the BH's, eyeshot, and mind bleed... for melee characters, intimidate and bleed, then let your center/defenses help you win the fight. these are not tactics that are strong in buffed combat.
/rant off

I seem to be the only person in game who will take on a high level mob unbuffed, without armor, AND win. :P
personally, I don't even like buffs for PVE. There are some things that just shouldn't be soloable. If you want to solo it, go rifleman and spam conceal shot.(Oh how i love thee).
My HAM has been at the 400/400/1100 since before teh buff bot days, and i've had no problems. Even when dueling, I can hold my own unless i'm fighting the buff bot idiots.

Wether or not you should be able to kill Krayt dragons solo or not.
You still can. And I do.
Being unbuffed for this is not an option.
Not to mention your a rifleman.
Why should someone like me, who isn't a rifleman. Be forced to be a rifleman in order to make other people feel good?
I'm sorry... It's just unreasonable to request that everyone else play by YOUR rules, whoever you may be. This post is not directed towards anyone in particulair.
We all have the option of buffing. So if you wanna PVP. Buff. I know I will be.

Can't wait to get it on *just* like this.
So much more thought is coming to combat if the system described is what ends up going Live. In coming back to SWG from WoW, I've had to reaquaint myself with the controls and rhythm a bit. The other night, unbuffed, I took on a bunch of Marooned Pirates on Lok with the sole goal of killing just one of them, the one with the highest HAM (an "engineer" with this particular mob). The terrain was uneven with a couple hills standing up enough to provide cover.
What followed was one of the funnest times in game for me. I ran around, dodged, healed, rolled, hid out of line of sight, and was pleased to see the somewhat improved AI make the mobs stop, drop to kneeling, fire, drop again to prone, fire...I was pinned down twice as I ran around rocks for cover, Burst Ran to maintain distance.
Now it took about 8 times as long as it would have taken me buffed to just wade in there like the Hulk, but I finally nailed that one mob boss, and hightailed it out of the area with a thimble full of HAM left, blaster shots buzzing by me (they got my Swoop though :x ).
Bottom line? It felt like I was in
Combat. Under the current system it's more like "The 40-yard Dash to Incap", with Buffs being steroids.
The new changes to come will even change the rhythm of a scenario like the one I detailed above. But one thing that will be the same is that your instincts will be sharpened to not get hit, to move away out of range instead of slug it out, to
think, and not spam. More boxing (stick, move, and block, i.e. "Interrupt" which is coming), less slugging (toe to toe).
It's gonna be challenging
and fun.

I agree and Disagree, The whole cooling downa nd crap is nice but a full combat template will get 3k ham, other will be lower if you dont have one. My problem is WHY, why give us 3k ham why not give us somthing like 1.25k ham and leave it like that. There is no point for such a high ham except that they want us to be able to have LONG DRAWN OUT FIGHTS. I loved near launch everyone had whatever kind of weapon and we went crazy, Wookis were feared cause of their higher ham due to lack of armor, and spaming specials wasnt a problem. if they could revert us to the old days, no buffs cause their stupid, and no DOT's except whichever special gives it out. I will be more happier then getting a 3k ham for a full combat Template.
