I don't know if a Combat level cap is the way to go...

My alt is only a level 65 right now. Not as tough as the 80 combat monsters, but he can hold his own. In a group, his skills might be very handy...but I wouldn't his level to be an exclusionary factor. By the same token, not every level 80 pc will neccessarily want to fight either. I like the AFK tag idea.

Ideally, we should be able to comprise a list of members willing to participate and try to stick to that. My guess is that there wouldn't be a lot of people from any side NOT participating. Should be a short list.

I meant this more to protect crafters or some of the lower characters that would just get killed every time. I was thinking like CL 25 and lower are non combatants.

War, battle, conflict, police action, extreme diplomacy...I don't see the name of it being really that important. The main point is that you'll have armed groups going at it against each other. All of our characters exist during a very violent time in this saga. Most of us are some sort of criminal/political outlaw or the authority responsible for fighting them. There's gonna be beef. This fits into more immersive RP.

As far as some guild members not being attackable it's just an allowance for some guildmembers that may not want to fight or be a viable combatant. And hiring out a guild or allying with one wouldn't be an issue, because all fighting members of each side would be declared. I'm not seeing how there would be any wild cards in a guild war system. Everyone's going to know what guild they are fighting against, correct me if I'm wrong. It's just a case of balance so one side's not under or overpowered.

Back again to guild non-participants. Once again, there'd be no need to worry about your lowly crafter getting attacked or having to sit or /AFK if your name's not on the participant list. As long as the list is kept updated and people honor it there's no problem. And if there is, then there's penalties that could be answered to.

If your name is on the list and you don't feel like fighting when attacked by another combatant then you have the option of surrendering or trying to get to a safe zone before you're incapped/dead. If we really want to try to keep it real, we need to walk the walk. Your enemy should have the option of letting you surrender (capturing you or just letting you go) or disregarding it and continuing the fight. If you think there's a time when you're not going to want to be ambushed on sight by your enemies, then you shouldn't offer your name up as a combatant. Fighting when "convenient" isn't immersive.

Safe Zone Nocturnus vs. Battlefield Nocturnus

This is where I see a concession to practicality *being* needed. Bottom line is, as X'an Shin stated, it's not going to be fun getting nuked upon loading at the Shuttleport going home. Or near the door of your house. Maybe once, maybe twice. But after that it'll get tiresome. I see this being more problematic than fun.

A controlled fighting environment would be too predictable. Let's use the randomness of different city/landscapes to our fun advantage. Watch your back as you would on Dathomir. Know that you could get whacked on a city corner in broad daylight.....or bump into your hunted target there as well. Those consistent moments of normalcy turning blink-of-an-eye into a showdown would be more fun than knowing where the fight area is all the time (Nocturnus). Account for surprise.

No there's not always going be fighting, but that doesn't mean that there'll be none whatsoever. It just means that it won't be restricted to one place...the SAME place...every time....ZZZzzzzzz

On the matter of Combat Levels, the idea of exemptions according to power disparities could be put into place if that would suit everyone?

Personally, even if I was Level 4 with only CDEF power, I'd still want to be attackable by all just for the challenge of escaping a more powerful foe. Or better, sneaking up and blasting a Level 80 with my pea-shooter only to bounce out while sending humiliating tell messages of the Spider Man variety.

But that's just me. I like being a sneaky rascal.

This doesn't really apply at the moment but thought I'd throw it in anyway. I have several houses I maintain on Corellia, really just for storage of ship parts that I can't RE yet. I'd gladly convert one as a safe house, it's only about 1,000m outside of Coronet. I could rename it Noct. Safe house or something.

Anyway back to your thread sorry.

Sure it applies, Hash. It lends to the flavor of having combat throughout the galaxy.

How 'bout calling all the safehouses Nym's Embassy (Nymbassy  )? As far as the underworld goes, these houses would be sovereign territory of Nym that would be acknowledged safe havens from gangland violence.

And we could decorate the houses in an ill shady manner with item labels such as "Dr. Evazan Slept Here", "Greatest thanks For the refuge. Yours, Solo." Whatever.

Just a thought. Something to add more RP-itude to this.

That would work too. And to think I was just planning of throwing some wooden tables, chairs, and a bunch of junk in it.

I do like the idea of using Nym's name to give more meaning to the safe house.

Part of the same idea, we have a Rebel Base decorated just ouside of ME that Zannon put together, that could be a refuge there to any rebels perhaps. Would just be nice to use the resource that he put so much work into.

The only suggestion I would have in an IC group war conflict is to have an in-character no-clone rule. That's not no-DB...that's not considering DBs as actual deaths or cloning.

Have characters have a reason to show restraint when they're fighting against one another. They aren't aiming to kill, just threaten, injure, maim. AKA, if someone incaps, the incapper leaves. They don't want to be around when the injured person comes to and has their wits about them again.

If someone is DBed, they're hurt very badly, and in a similar fashion, the person who did it doesn't want to stay around to find out what's going to be done to them in retaliation or wait for the calvary to arrive.

The idea is that, you know--the threat of death and all-out open war is too costly and frightening for anyone to actually kill each other. That's why there's just shooting and injury. An uncomfortable tension.

The reason I also suggest this is because constant cloning and deathblows don't really fit into an in-character role-play, unless there's a plot that specifically makes use of cloning (like the Replicant War).

Does that make sense? Also if something similar to this has also been posted, sorry...admittedly I haven't read through all the posts in this thread.

I think this idea still has merit and would like to see something happen.

Everyone needs to be aware that we need to be good sports about this or it simply will not work. If you think all the members of your guild are able to show enough sportsmanship and restraint, and the ability to follow a few necessary guidelines, then this can work.

So, that being said.. Who would like to give this a little test? :D
