I know Zan pretty well, and I know what he DID do while sampling JTL if he was given the opportunity. Play with shipwright and see what materials will be needed. He's been trying to weasel that info outa Pex for awhile to no effect.

Talked to Zan on the phone early this morning from GenCon. Apparently he tried to look at the Shipwright skills, but all they'd show is the skilltree. He couldn't get a peek at the schematics (they had 'em locked out). Also, it's evidently confirmed that you'll have to reverse engineer better and better ships from found loot parts.

Some interesting news: All of the devs/producers he talked to would say that there were 18 ships, and when he corrected them and said, "No, there's twelve..." they'd go "....OH! Right, uh, twelve."

I'm pretty sure the PR folks are only releasing 12 ships to the public but the devs are going full steam ahead on 18 ships. We did this with Ballers; just release small teaser tidbits to the public to keep 'em spoon-fed and hungry for more. I think Marketing calls it maintaining a high pre-launch awareness.

Uh, he said that there's 2 more Hutt faction ships they haven't shown yet, and they evidently kept referring to Hutt as an actual Faction, so keep your fingers x'ed.

And, in true Zan form, he quit out of SW Republic or some such game played a the Nvidia booth and booted Zannon's account in SWG. They shut him down quick (nice-like, not gestapo-like), but dayum, he's even stealing SWG time.

Yes, a friend of mine has already emailed some gencon pics.

They range anywhere from "no honey, chainmail does not look good on everyone" to the obligatory collection of "booth babe" photos to "freaky people caught on film!"
