In all fairness,
Jumped in again this morning to test other professions. I played with Marksman this time. The enemies reacted differently - to be honest I had a lot of fun. I am still weary of this new ambiguous queueing thats going on. I can't tell if any of my specials are actually getting queued or not since there is no visual indication.
Seems like there is a generous amount of work that needs to be done on melee professions. I dare say that i stand by my original assessment in that this new interface is no good for melee professions or any profession where attacks are quickly executed. As a brawler I still can not defeat even the most meager creatures or take the lowest missions without help. I got DB'd again by a dwarf nuna, thats kind of a problem.
This is really a new game they're pushing now. I really hope there are major changes before this goes to live. Still weary,
Jabe

Maybe later tonight I'll pick up Brawler and see what's with it.
Couple things, Jabe:
- There should be a yellow bracketed outline of the special if you hit it multiple times in quick succession. That will tell you if there are more than one of those attacks waiting for cooldown to complete. As I said earlier I was able to get 3 "loaded" before it stopped taking inputs. Try that out and see what you get.
- Also, it may sound funny, but what did that Dwarf Nuna CON as? If it's a DB'er it usually is somewhat tough to begin with for a low power toon. Was it tougher than a White CON (even match)?

I'd have to look, but ti wasn't that long ago that I was a newb in SWG and I never remember getting wiped by one of those. I have yet to defeat any creature as brawler and I have my knife equipped.

Yeah, I can vouch for that. After playing for a bit (in WoW), your brain adapts to the "cooldown" concept and after a time you don't need to watch the toolbar anymore.Keer wrote:Yes, this IS a more fast paced style for the players part. But, I can only speak for myself that after WoW, I'm used to it and others with practice *may* start to feel the rhythm of their attacks and cooldown times to where it just ain't no thang anymore.

Okay. I started "Keer CU" on the Brawler track about 2 hours ago...
I'm kickin' more ass than Dolomite.
Running through more critters than Ellie May from The Beverly Hillbillies.
Jabe, let's get together on TC5 sometime so you know I'm not lying, mayng.
More Observations:
1.) Now it seems that to use "Bacta Shot" to heal yourself, you have to be your own target via /self target or CTRL+1. When I tested Sunday night/Monday morning, nothing targeted for Bacta Shot would default heal you.
However, it's nothing that a macro won't solve.
2.) There's been much angst over some of the new combat visual efx, and I have some for one that's been taken out. The "red tracer" that follows your toon's hands and feet when in melee combat is not there right now. That was one of the things I remember liking about melee from way back when. They need to put that back.
3.) Earlier I said that the Aim ability was nowhere in the CU Marksman tree. Either I missed it the first time or it's been added, because now I see it in Marksman Rifles 3. Personally, I think Aim should be available to all ranged profs. Sacrifice a combat round prior to making a shot for better chance to hit.
4.) All the other things I noticed in regards to command stacking with Marksman are true for Brawler as well. I rapid tapped Melee Hit three times and took my hands away from the keyboard...Melee Hit executed three times in the combat window upon each respective cooldown finish.
To anyone having trouble leveling Brawler or Marksman:
Are you sure that you're not attacking NPC's above your level? What's it CONning as?
Are you healing yourself during the fighting? (I haven't needed to except for once where I took on 2 White CONs. Outside of that I've been cool healing after the fight is over).
For Brawlers, are you using Center of Being to "buff" yourself before attacking? (It comes at Unarmed 1: Streetfighting. Doesn't buff your Health, just adds to your chance of dodging melee attacks, as it does now in the current system).
So far, I'm digging it.
EDIT: I wanted to add that I think it's a good idea to not to overuse your beginner specials. Melee Hit for Brawler and Ranged Shot for Marksman should be used when you are in a good Health condition. Even when rapid commanding those moves, mix up the rotation with your basic attack from the radial menu {accent mark (`) + 1}. They're both easy to key and you won't need to worry about cooldown time.
Of course, once you know you'll outhealth your target, finishing with those specials is cool.
I don't wish to sound like Charlie Schoolteacher here, just trying to help folks feel less frustrated.
