Sadly, I cannot claim the line.

MXO had great potential but unfortunately they didnt plan itvery well. The grind is similar to SWG in that it feels endless. The missions (except the critical story missions which are few and far between) are the same over and over and over again.

There is very little content and the big draw for the game wihich was the live action team and allowing the players to actually control the story progression on their servers died a horrible death with SOE took it over. (go figure).

Everyone I know that played the Beta and then the game maxed out to level 50 in the first 2 months and have since left... sadly most came back to SWG ... and this is the thanks they got.

You couldnt pay me to go back and play MXO - even if it wasnt an SOE property now...all the promises once again either undelivered or not delivered at all.

Sadly still looking for a halfway decent MMO and hoping that the titles coming out next year provide me the gaming experience they say they are developing...

Well for those that never played it, for an older game it still has a lot going for it imo.

Character customization is nice, template customization allows for some variation between classes (lets face it no game will match SWG of old in this dept.)

Graphics have been enhanced several times through expansions and while still no where near as nice as an EQ2 or Guild Wars, it is still nice.

Plenty of content, instanced dungeons for fast leveling at the lower levels, but you can use them all the way to level 50 if you choose to. There are two epic quests which start at level 5 and you do another part of the quest every 5 levels to level 50. Once you hit 50 and you've done your epics and you think there's nothing left there's Master levels 1-10 each of which grants new abilities in your quest to be teh pwn. Then with the new darkness rising expansion theres also Champion levels which give you more cool stuff including armored horses, more abilities and THE uber pwn weapons.

There are also special quests for Artifacts, which in a nutshell are various items, armor, and weapons that you level up and have awesome stats/procs, etc.

That's just the PvE.

For PvP they have what is called RvR (Realm vs Realm) There are various battlegrounds throughout your leveling (the first at lvl 21) which give you a taste of what the real thing will be like in the Frontiers at level 50. You lay siege to keeps using catapults, trebuchets, and other destructive goodness.

There's also player housing & crafting. The player housing is nice, but no where near as customizable as SWG, my biggest gripe being that you can place chairs in your house, but can't sit on them. The crafting system is just time/money intensive - there is no resource gathering. You buy what you need from NPC merchants and craft items, resell back to merchant (or player) and then start over. The materials getting more expensive as you gain crafting skill.

It's a nice game overall and the RvR is really something unique that keeps me playing along with the almost neverending content through PvE.
They just released the Epic expansion which is pretty much the equivalent of the Total Experience (minus the Darkness Rising expansion which is available through DDL) so if anyone wants to give it a shot message or email me and I'll give you some contact info.

EDIT: Oh yeah, it's got CAMELOT! What more could you want from a game?

It's only a model..

I have been ignoring my PS2 for a while, so I have been trying to get back into it.

I picked up Indigo Prophecy about a month ago. Unique gameplay with a STRONG emphasis on story and not so much on actual game play. Sounds like a losing combination for a video game, I know, but it's really odd how they kind of pull it off. It's hard to describe the game mechanics without at least trying it out. I would give it a rental at least. Story is pretty good till the end when it kinda jumps the shark, but is relatively creative up to that point. Some of the voice actors are good, some of them not so much.

Rented Gun a week ago, and finished it in 3 days. Engaging and fun, but totally nil on the replay factor. Once ya beat it, that's it...there is nothing to encourage playing it again. Definately better than Red Dead Revolver, but is far too short to justify dropping 35-45 bones on it. The voice acting for it was better than a LOT of games out there, and for some reason that always sits well with me. Yeah, you buy a game to play, but truth be told, if the voice acting sucks, it's a MAJOR blow to a game.

I also picked up True Crime: New York which has been slightly less than sub par. Never played the first one, but this one plays like a weak GTA clone. Emphasis on the weak. I like that you are a cop instead of a criminal in this one, but the driving system is terrible and the camera views are sometimes irritating when you get stuck in a small indoor setting. Lawrence Fishburne is yo' pops in that one, which I like...because he was on Pee Wee's playhouse and that makes you a hard ass in my book.

I just picked up Fable:The Lost Chapters for the PC and got it installed last night. Heard good things (except that it was too short).

Ummmm....since SWG hit the skids, I have been renting like it was my job. I went to look for a copy of Call of Duty 2 for PC, but everyone was sold out except EB's 2 used copies (already? Weird) and I have forever sworn them off because they suck. Last time I went in, I was going to try and unload some games and buy a new one and the pimple faced d-bag behind the counter said "sorry, we are getting ready to close" 10 minutes before closing time. I had half a mind to ask to talk to his manager and see why his employees were refusing service to a customer that very well may have garnered sales. It's piss poor to refuse a customer when you just don't want to work for 10 minutes.

Anyway...that's what I am playing.

Ok, my memory is starting to go at this old age and I need help remembering the name of an old PC game.

I thought it was privateer but apparently I'm getting it mixed up with the Wing Commander series.

Anyway this game was set in space, and the main character had lost his memory. You start out buying a ship to get off the planet and can continue the story or you can just go off and start your own sort of adventure.

I remember I could buy resources at one planet, fly to another system and try selling them for more. Or I could take destroy type missions with my ship, you could upgrade the parts and your ship after earning money doing these "jobs".

Anyway was a great PC game in the mid '90's probably and I just can't remember the name of it.

Was it a text-mode BBS game? Sounds like tradewars.

I have no idea what text-mode BBS is. It was pretty much just your typical space flight sim only with added depth. Damn getting old sucks.

been there since game launch. Im going to take a new look now that CoV has hit. Ill still be with SWG as long as the community survives.

Really looking forward to STO. Im just so burned on fantasy RP. My secret desire is to one day find a Robotech MMORPG...seems a genre that MMO's were destined for.
