What I'm trying to say here, is that by losing unity or perhaps an identity as a nation promotes seperatism which leads to the fragmentation of the US. 100 years from now the US will no longer exist as a country, but most likely several independant nations (Canada as well). Sure thats a bold statement, but I can only go by the trend shown in large countries in the past and it seems as though countries such as Canada and the US are following this trend perfectly.
This country has always been divided, ever since Day 1. Even before Day 1, when we were under British rule. The Founding Fathers argued. They debated. They called each other nasty names. They weren't all best friends.
Even among the 13 original colonies, there were disagreements from state to state. Civil War, anyone?
There are too many people, and too many opinions for this country to ever be some united utopia. It's just not going to happen. The fact that people disagree is what makes this America. The fact that you and I are free to say we're at odds with each other's opinions is what makes this country work. If we all felt the same, and buried our dissent, or our opinions just for the sake of unity, we'd be doing ourselves a tremendous disservice.
