This thread stopped being useful 2 pages ago. Someone who is new and comes here and reads the thread involving the event is going to see it completly full of bickering and think "F that".
Give me a reason as why I should even think of working with Batty and Pex and try to do another one on a larger scale on the weekend?
Screw this. I had more I wanted to say but what's the point. The event thred has been derailed completly and will probably wind up locked.
Imperial Crackdown in Mos Eisley
I would like to thank the Imperial presence in the starport. That was wonderful to be asked for ID and questioned upon landing. Unfortunately we didnt see any other real imperial presence after that point. The ATAT outside the cantina were fantastic - Great job!!
We really enjoyed the bit we were exposed to and can see as something positive to move forward. But my question is this:
What was the real purpose of the event. If it was to engross more people into RP then everyone - needs to be on the same page. Everyone should be making an attempt to speak to someone new. Be it "accidentally" spilling a drink on someone and saying excuse me ( maybe it strikes up a conversation) or what ever else might make some sense for your character. I know many characters are in hiding... or are very secretive by nature. Thats ok - but wont help build this community. If its not in your character to introduce yourself to strangers try small things like the above. Doesnt sacrifice you.. but just might excite someone who didnt realize Rpers are around.
If it was to continue the war with a GCW feel to it... then last night probaly worked for you from what im reading it was definately a light vs dark - imp vs rebel thing going on.
A number of Rpers I met last night had been finding it very difficult to engage - trying to stay true to how people SHOULD feel about the empire. Not wanting to stir up trouble by justing running up with a sign saying "here I am arrest me" but by not doing that... they was no way they could try to get involved and let people meet them
Maybe for a future event, have on OOC meet and greet recruitment drive for RPers. That way people can interact freely... and apologizse in advance for their characters non interest in making new friends (or enemies).
Just a thought.
Want to end on a high note and thank the people who worked so hard to try to put this together! Kudos to you

I hope you will, for the most part it sounded fun, I hope you will try and put something together. Just make it for 9 central this time and I will show up at 8 again so I can be involved

Nyvveck doesn't like FoS, but he doesn't kill them on sight. Why? Because I (the player behind the keyboard) don't think it's fun to be fighting all the time. Also, I don't kill -ONE- jedi on sight for the same reason. Just because I choose to RP an Inquisitor who wants to kill Jedi doesn't mean that I have to make myself hate the game to achieve that.Mosuger wrote:Well I was going to say sorry I missed it, but I think if I saw Nyv directing a squad a FoS I'd have been real disappointed.
People get so caught up in RP this and that that they forget the point of the game is to have fun. Hey, if you get fed up with it, just take a deep breath, go pwn some guys in Theed, and come back. That always works for me.
And I think we should all be glad that this game doesn't follow Star Wars exactly. You think your Jedi/BH/Commando/Medic/Spy/Smuggler/whatever else I'm forgeting could ever compare to the characters that have names in the movies? Hell no. If this was a direct translation of Star Wars, I would spend all my time in ST armor and wouldn't be able to hit a target from a foot back.
I for one, applaud any efforts to help stimulate RPing on this server. Could this event have gone better? From what I'm hearing, yes (I wasn't actually there). Was it a good first attempt, worthy of a second try? Yes.

The extent of the planning that went into this as far as I know:Nyvveck wrote:Could this event have gone better? From what I'm hearing, yes (I wasn't actually there). Was it a good first attempt, worthy of a second try? Yes.
#1 - Batak - "Lets do an Imperial Crackdown in Eisley"
#2 - Me - "Hey, can Pex place some AT-ATs and AT-STs?"
It occured on a Wednesday, fairly late in the night.
I expected a few Imperials showing up and that was about it. I expected overt rebels showing up and me getting pwned because I did not have armor on.
It generated far more intrest than I expected and I'm sure Batak expected as well

That's an understatement! And this thread has been very useful to me so far. I'm getting a better idea about trying to plan a major event in only a 24 hr notice. Doesn't work as you envision it in your head.Isleh wrote:It generated far more intrest than I expected and I'm sure Batak expected as well
