A whole new level of pissed off for Seret

Ok, I gotta rant about this one. I got BURNED...

Last night I was re-assessing my skills. I'm bored with Riflemen and I don't think I want to take it any further. I do know my skill set needs to have Hunting in Scout so I can get meat for Nile and I still love Swordsman so I kicked it around a bit.

So I pondered Bounty Hunter. Not a bad idea for me. It fits my character, the bounty hunters are my favorite characters in SW and I wouldn't mind using those skills. So I look at my current skills and stored up XP. I have Marksmen and Scout already. In Scout I had Expolore II and enough XP for III and IV. In Marksmen I have Rifles IV and PLENTY of XP to get Pistols I-IV, Carbines I-V, and Ranged Support I-IV plus the AP to get Master Marksmen. I even had enough Combat XP stored to get Novice Bounty Hunter that night AND enough Heavy Weapons XP left over from Commando to get LLCs up to level III right off the bat! WOW, I thought, I'm going for it!!

So I go to a local Marksmen trainer because I don't want to wait. I get Ranged Support I-IV no problem. I get Pistols II no problem. I get Carbines II no problem. But wait, I can't get Pistols III or Carbines III. Huh? Why? I had over 200K in Pistols saved over from Smuggler. I even had a good amount of Carbine XP saved up when I was trying for Carbineer. Why can't I learn those skills?

I'll tell you why. Because this cursed game stole my XP away and left me with only 5k each of carbines and pistols after I learned each Level II skill. 5K??!!! You bastards! I got to pick up a lousy Scout Blaster and E11 Carbine again. GREAT!!

So thanks to the devs for taking my stored XP away. In my opinion I EARNED every single solitary point of that XP and I see no reason to take it away. Are you implying my character just forgets how to use a pistol? You've officially pissed me off.

/end rant
/asks X'an how I did :D

What do you mean? When you started learning new skills they just deducted extra XP for no apparent reason? I think I am missing something here..

The basic explaination for this is it lowered the cap on XP for me while I was learning the skills. Everyone has a max level of XP for every profession and the level of that cap depends on your skills. So a the cap on pistol XP is lower for a marksmen than it is for a pistoleer. I had 200K Pistol XP from Smuggler because the required amount of XP is so high. When I went to learn Pistols it brought me back to the Marksmen cap and threw the rest of the XP I had earned to the wind. Real nice huh?

I feel for you brother, it's frustrating. This is one of the reasons I don't play as much as I used to(though I plan on logging some time this weekend). It's very disappointing when the devs pull this kind of shit on us. As much as I do love this game(and I still do) if some of these issues do not get ironed out this game will not be able to save itself. I've said it before..everything hinges on the space expansion. I predict that planets will become a wasteland and there will be "camping" in space. It's kind of sad because the terrastrial game does have some great points to it..but the two need to work in tandem.

Holy Shit dude, tha'ts raw.

If I were you I'd start an SOE ticket on that. It's not about your opinion; you absolutely unarguably EARNED those skill points, and they shouldn't just be dropped.

And you did very well, my young padawan ;)

Ahhh.. you didn't know about that? I found out the hard way too. I had 900K Dancing XP stored up. I dropped dancer to hologrind (dont ask, it was a dark time). My intention was to take up dancing again when I was done.

Well I eventually decided that the hologrind was not for me. I went to the entertainer trainer, expecting to vault way into the Dancer tree. I think I was able to train Dancing I and II before realizing what happened.

There is nothing like that sinking feeling you experience when you watch 900K of XP turn into 10K. Mind you, that 900K was not afk XP either. There were no AFK entertainers back then.
