was looking for loot stuff, and found the usual vendors with overpriced parts for loot kits, until I saw the one piece I needed, the first coating for the naboo sculpture...

the seller had forgot to add a zero to this particular piece (had 3 or 4 of em on the vendor) so I got the piece for 25k instead of 250k

Nice job. If it was a regular item worth more to the crafter than you paid for it then I'd feel bad but since its loot I say GOOD SHOW OLD BOY!

y'know, I honestly don't understand why people are paying so much for loot kit pieces. Since the "firsts" have all been constructed, is it really that big of a deal anymore?

How do you get these anyway? Are they from specific mobs?

Not really, pretty much all NPCs drop them, just some more than others.
Here's a list of some NPCs I know drop them, and who drop the rarer parts more often than none.

Marooned Pirates/Lok (drop rarer parts)
Tuskens
Aukuans (drop rarer parts)
Jantas
Geonosians
Nightsisters

And probably everything else, just not as often.

Also see Skarr's post about upping the difficulty of the NPCs by taking level 51 missions. Evidently if you can get difficulty 51 or higher missions, the loot drops become much more frequent.

I got a loot kit part by killing random miners at the Yavin labor outpost on Sunday morning while waiting for Dragunno. Apparently, EVERYTHING will drop them if you kill enough of the guys.
