My First Club Midnight, Role Play, and Me. Sorry,New Thread

Proud Awestruck Inspired Disappointed
All these feelings from my first Club Midnight Casino experience.
Proud - to be a contributor to the Club Midnight experience. It's a rare occurnence on any server I bet and we got it here.
Awestruck - I can't count how many times before when I thought about SWG and the things that would satisfy me in it. A room full of player characters, each one with a story to play. Eagerly. Roleplay was bouncing off of the walls in there. It was like a rolepaly reactor core. Or watching the Harlem Globetrotters pass the ball. Or a triple play in baseball that never stops, the players just relaying the play back, forth, and across the field. Stories and player motivations cascading off of others, and all in the same building within a 10 second "walk".
Inspired - building on Awestruck, what if everybody who came to Club Midnight lived in the same city? It would just be fantastic. For me, not only about the stories that I was involved in, but just knowing that there were 6, 10, a dozen others that I didn't know about.
Disappointed - Why? Only because I could not keep my eyes open any longer (I had to take a shower before I could wake up enough to write this! ). After the Kreetles band stopped playing that was half a dozen more stories in play. And most of them, I've known for so long that it would have been very easy to interact with them to see what's new. But, I was just too damned tired to do it! Apologies to anyone that might have noticed a blandness in my play in the last 40 mins before I left. It was because I started to crash hard.
Tonight, I had the opportunity to play "Short Stop" or "Free Safety". Basically, I roamed the field as a catalyst, filling in gaps and interjecting when needed. And until I did it, I'd never looked at The Play from that point of view before.
It was exhilarating and challenging to make an introduction, an impression, and a smooth exit with new and old acquaintances alike. The charm guns were set on "Salvo" tonight
I can hunt and loot raid anytime on any planet and I love to do it. But Roleplay events like Club Midnight, Scum & Villainy, Crazy Roba are the whipped cream and cherry, with sprinkles. Or is it the other way around? *wink*

wonderful insight Keer. I'm glad to hear Club Midnight and all the other RP event nights out there have such a range of effects on you. You don't just want people to have the same experience every time. Give them a buffet of RP situations and stories so the experience constantly shifts and renews. Its refreshing that way.
One thing I'd like to add is something I experience through Casino Night. That is experimentation and refinement. I like to use Casino night to try out new ideas and tactics for my character, to test people's reactions and see what works and what doesn't. For example I tried using Seret a little less convensionally tonight. I wanted to joke a little more, strongarm a little more and most of all be a little more Deviant. I used "Listening devices" on some characters and utilized a "criminal associate" of Seret's for fun (Vinnie Bones, my weapons vendor). Some peopel took to these in different ways and that is good. Lets face it, I'm a criminal AND head of security so I'll employ any methods I see fit to have my eye on everything.
So by using these kind of events I can further my character along, get him to places I want him to be. Villiany is not easy to pull off, especially when you natural reactions take you elsewhere. Because of events like these I can slowly become the deviant bastard you love to hate. Just gonna take some time to get there.

I have to thank everyone that put this together again because it was a big success again I think. I have to say it felt a little scummier then the first week and it was a nice change. My luck didn't improve on the slots or in the V.I.P. room but everything went very smoothly and it was great getting to meet some of the new people in town as well.
Of course Tandis being drunk is always fun to watch and I think it's worth showing up just to see him. I was also able to find a little illegal activity while I was there which was an added bonus. This is definately one of the highlights I look forward to now. I already anticipate the next one.

I had a really fun time tonight. Dwilah is a real lightweight, of course, and had a bit too much to drink...after wandering about leaning on things a bit and getting picked on by the locals, there was a moment with a pirate who shall remain nameless to protect his gruffness who suggested she lay down. AW. So touching to me.
Unfortunately, as Dwilah realized Mr.Pirate was right and took his advice, that meant I had to study Spanish while I watched spatial from upstairs while she slept. Which was still fun...people-watching in RP is just as interesting IRL.
So...Dwilah was out of commission long before I was, and I still had fun watching the goings-on. =)

Hello everyone
I also wanted to express what a great time I had last night. I've been meaning to get involved in this community for a long time now, and I'm sad I didn't sooner. You're a great bunch of roleplayers, and I had so much fun just watching the back and forth play and all the different storylines interweaving last night.
So basically I just wanted to say thanks for involving me and I can't wait to play with you guys again.
Also, if any of you have any Storylines you'd like to involve Seri in, just let me know! Now that I've had a taste, I'm dying for some more!

I thoroughly enjoed myself last night. I was having a great time being an arrogant rogue, and building up on the bounty storyline for my character.
Everything was going well until I spied a bounty hunter entering the room. I decided discretion was needed, and quietly sneaked out the front door.
Good times!

For me the fun really kicks in when I am get off the "stage" and start mingling with everyone. That's when I can stop being a decoration and more of a character.

(Don't get me wrong, I love performing.)
Keer, you need to work up your "gaming muscles".. getting tired.. lol. I took a nap earlier in the day just so I could be in good form for Casino Night.
One thing that made me just about explode with joy was that I am seeing people I invite starting to invite their own friends. Some of these people I have not seen in a long time. What does this tell us? Word is spreading. This is an RP Mecca.
What I took away from this... Opening night was not a fluke. Casino night was a blast once again.

Not to derail the thread.. but you are hitting on one of my dreams here.
Imagine logging in, walking to the local cantina and being immersed in RP every DAY. It would feel like you are in an actual living city. This is my RP dream. If you look hard enough you can find some of my posting on these and the SOE forums that speak to this.
Working against this dream is the desire to "build my own city my way". Many people are still enamored by this concept. Add in the unwillingness to move.
However, I feel people are coming around slowly to the idea that RP works better when you are in close proximity to other roleplayers. It is fun to walk down the street an not know what soert of situation you will run in to. I think we have all had our fair share of living in Ghost Towns.
Ever stop and think why Coronet is always so busy? Why not Doaba Guerffel? It is because there are peope in Coronet. Why? Because there are people there. It is a self-sustaining fusion reaction, critical mass.
This concept applies to roleplayers as well. Establish a critical mass of roleplayers, and more and more get sucked in. Soon, RP is the norm and not the exception. It becomes a constant.
This is my vision of the fully immersive RP Utopia.
Forgive me if I seem little too excited, I am.

So hey everybody, move to Nocturnus! ;)
No, seriously, we only need like 8 more people for a Shuttleport.

Don't beg, X'an. Its so unbecoming of our Mayor. Remember when I had to drag you from Coronet Starport kicking and screaming? I'm not going through that again.

Believe me.. that thought has been in my mind quite a bit lately.
When RP'ers come to me asking me about where they can find RP, I mention a few places to check out, Nocturnus among them. Note that I do not not promote any one place over the next. I just mention them as notable places to check out.
I have noticed the population of Nocturnus growing lately(with ACTIVE people no less!!). So to continue with my laws of physics analogies, the gravitational pull of Nocturnus is increasing. We may be witnessing the birth of a star.
The reasons for this are many.. but it the core people are in Nocturnus because it is fun to be there. Things may just work themselves out on their own.

Wait, so I'm the Mayor again?
What happened? I thought you guys kicked me out because I was always drunk.

Where's the 'Muhahaha' and can I wear one of those shiny silver jumpsuits?
J/K!
I had a blast and Ekade is right. There are pockets of RP all over Gorath and it would be nice for it to be located all in one place. So much potential.

Throw me a fricken bone here people.
Isleh, I have some quasi-futuristic clothing already picked out for us. :P
