I have to say this game is everything I wanted it to be. An online FPS with the star wars look, sound and feeling.
First lets talk about Gameplay. This seemed excellent to me. Load times aren't a bore, lag wasn't a big issue and the controls are realitively the same as what I'm use to. I have to admit some controls really require you to re-map them to your own liking. Every level was fun and exciting.
Now the exciting parts. The "Hero" Option turned on for a server is a must for me from here on out. There is nothing like fighting alongside or even again Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Mace Windu and Count Dokku. Even when I controlled a super battle droid and Mace cleved me in half, I was actually thrilled. There's also the other folks who make appearences, like fighting on Tat and having a spawn of Tusken Raiders attack everyone in sight only to have a few get snatched and eaten by the saarlac.
The vehicles are very interested, and very unique. From the huge Geonosian monster machines from Epsiode II to driving a Skiff on Tat. Really well done.
The levels are quite well done. The jungles of Yavin give you that Vietnam feel while the cities of Naboo really make for some interesting battles. I wish there was a bit more interactivy but not enough for me to complain.
But now lets talk about the bad parts. For one, the multiplayer server select screen needs a lot of work. There is a sort function but NO search function. You also can refine you list, like say you only want servers running the GCW and have the Hero option turned on. They really should of took notes from games like Battlefield Vitenam and Unreal. Another bad point is a lot of client and server stability. Crashing to desktop in the heat of battle never makes anyone happy.
Well thats all the thoughts I can muster for now. You can be sure you'll find me an the others of the Mad Monkey Brigade playing this game a few nights a week. Join us if you can.

LOL, my friends list was pretty thin last night. I don't think I saw a single nocturnite on the whole evening. :P

Ya know the whole server was thin. After a good amount of Battlefront playing I logged onto SWG for a bit. I had Fort Tusken completely to myself for over a hour. The loot I walked away with was staggering.

Nice.. at least I know the law of averages is working. For all you who have ever looted anything remotely cool, you have ME to thank for making that statistically possible.Seret Sajet wrote:Ya know the whole server was thin. I used to go pirate hunting with Trayuse, because I needed Brawler XP (and he could drop NPCS at the drop of a hat), and because I knew they dropped containers.
We'd take turns looting them, and at the end of the night, I'd get zero containers, and he'd have EIGHT.

So is this a run and gun or is there actually strategy to it? That was always my biggest complaint with the BF games in the past.

Mostly what I did was run & gun, but strategy plays a big part in winning a map. Taking control points and defense are necessary so if you have a coordinated group you'll be the victor. Its just had to get that group, it takes time to know the maps and plan your attack.ArifoObi wrote:So is this a run and gun or is there actually strategy to it? I think the crashing to desktop had something to do with Solo42's key. Seems like someone has a duplicate. And since I was the only other one crashing, we might wanna compare keys and where we bought our copies.
Yeah, other than that, the game's a blast. In my opinion, it only needs work on the server search.
And a personal complaint, as much as I hate the droids in the Clone Wars movies, I hate that I love them in this game. Nothing's more fun than rolling around as a battle droid, unfurl, and wipe out a squad of clones. I kinda feel dirty for playing 'em.

Actually I crashed to desktop once and I think Bilko did twice.
I know what Gaaralow means. I'm not a big fan of Episodes I and II and what they brought to the table but I love playing in those scenarios in this game. The vehicles are huge and distructive and the droids are cool as hell to play as. The whole Geonosis level is a blast.

This is what I did last night. I was there with one other person for over two hours. I had to resort to droids carrying all the stuff I kept looting and I still maxed my inv.Seret Sajet wrote:Ya know the whole server was thin. So many loot kit pieces, crystals, etc...
