Shuttleport?

Ok, I've been thinking about this for sometime now and just curious what the others thing. I know a shuttleport would be very nice for Nocturnus but does it fit with the city RP? I like the idea of Nocturnus being this little hide out and not wanting to bring much attention to it's residents as it were. A shuttleport just seems to add unwanted visability. I personally don't mind the 1500m or whatever trip to a shuttleport in another city. But I'm just one man.

I think we need it as currently there's no way to land your own ship in your own town. It gets you that one step closer to making it feel like we can land our own vehicles in our backyard.

I voted yes.

RP wise I may tend to agree with you. There is sort of a mystique that comes with a long haul to an isolated place. I always felt that when travelling to places like Wayfar, Jabba's, and the Village on Dathomir. You felt very far removed from civilization. It felt more "dangerous".

However, Nocturnus hosts a major RP event. Shuttles do a lot for a city in terms of casual visitors and commerce.

I see value on both sides of the coin, but in this case I choose convenience over "feel".

X'an is your point a RP in that we'd need a shuttleport to RP landing in our town? I only ask because if this is a JTL thing I thought we could only leave through starports? Just trying to fully understand your point.

I'm pretty much torn on the issue like everyone else. I'm all for the convenience of having our own shuttleport but I like the idea that Nocturnus is a hideaway town. Even when we have to tell people who to get to us it feels like the way the town should be ("Travel to a town called Fort Galaxy, then head south. You'll need to find a pirate to get the coordinates")

I see X'an's point (if he strickly means in RP) but there is also something to be said about docking our ships remotely. We want to assume that Nocturnus is the hub of our pirate business but having starships docked there would draw attention. If they saw 2 or 3 frigates there the Empire might assume something. If we stored our ships at Nym's we'd have his power of discretion and no one would ask questions.

Yes, you can only leave through starports. But that's my point, that at least a shuttleport makes it *feel* like we have the ability to take off and land from our own backyard, instead of storing our ships at a lousy starport.

I voted yes. As Ekade said I agree it dosenot fit RP wise but it is a hard trip to fly if you cannot risk the fight along the way. Not everyone is a Master TK/Master Doc. But I can handle myself but on the same note I rather just fly but shuttle then by bike. I myself ran across a Kimo nest...Lets just say I was lucky to be a smuggler with Feighn death.

Its a simple matter of accessibility, we NEED the shuttle port. We've been screwed by other towns like Ank Mork Pok going under and then Lost city just plain banning our citizens.

Shuttle dependency on another city just leaves us open for greifing as we stay dependent on others.

If we want to keep the current look and feel we could place the shuttle on the outskirts of town or behind a hill, or whatever. My opinion is I'd like to keep Nocturnus the way it currently is overall. I think there will be a point where we halt growth voluntarily and level off. But we need the shuttle.

What do we need, like 10 more citizens? What's the latest?

I think in the end, we just have to agree that if we get enough citizens for a shuttleport we'll have one. Its convienent and it will help traffic to the Noct and Merc shops.

All we have to do is put a new RP spin on it to fit with the remote desert pirate town. Why not just say the shuttle is a facade, carrying citizens from town to starport. Thats on the surface.

On the side we use a hidden compartment in our shuttle to smuggler certain illegal goods to Nym, who distributes for us on the side for a cut of the profits.

You could even say it is an ancient shuttleport that was unearthed near the town. maybe it was around during the time of the real sith?

Remember that there's a lot of stuff you can do IC to make something have more of a piratey or underhanded feel to it. If we all complain about the guy making shuttleruns being a cranky ass and the shuttle itself being run down and barely able to fly, and there's odd shuttle times in the middle of the night with those slightly illegal dealings going on... /shrug If just a few people mention it IC, it starts building a character for that shuttle pilot even though he'll never step foot outside of that shuttle.

Another way to look at it is that the casino is more of a draw. The residents could want that shuttleport for the business. Which is what, in a sense, we do want. It's RP business.

I checked about an hour ago and we are at 49 citizens. Though, that includes Illbleed and Ti, who will poof as citizens sooner or later so we need at least 8 more citizens to be safe for a shuttleport. Not much, we'll get their soon.

And props to Dwilah and Arifobi's idea, both workable.
