Any one else disipointed with Fable
Personally I'm disipointed. This game took forever to come out and when it did it didn't even live up to half my expectations. This game was supose to come out when the X-Box was released but Lion's Head took their time to try to perfect it. Now dont get me wrong but it is a good game but every one who knew about it from day one expected some this superb, a piece of art in the vedio game work. What we got was a game that you can finish with all the unique items in 15 hours, and that was disapointing. The grafics are good and the sound is great and with the exeption of ranged combat the game play is good and easy to get use to. Well enofe of me goin on what do you people think.

This game is up in the air for me. Its neck n' neck with X-men Legends. I want them both but I don't want fork over the cash for both so I'd like to see more Fable opinions first. Mind you I'll like X-men Legends more than average folks because I'm a not just a uber gamer geek but an uber comic geek as well.
I'm just dying to try out more games with my new X-box VGA converter on the way. Damn that should look nice!

Disappointed because they took out a bunch of shit right at the last minute...
but had i not known they did that...i wouldn't realize it was missing...
i'm not normally the type who plays a game, no matter how great, just to play evil instead of good or vice versa (read: KOTOR)
however i've beaten the game with 4 characters on fable and will probably make more...
Its fun as hell, and its fun to figure out how to win with different combos...
However the best way to "sneak" into the bandit camp is always gonna be just shooting the guys in the head and one shotting them so they don't scream
Lightning...the weakest P.O.S. spell in the game..or so i thought is BRUTAL once you max it out...4 enemies...stunned the whole time...taking a ton of damage fast....the combat multiplier gets sick...there's once area where undead spawn endlessly....lightning and will potions got me 100's of thousands of xp...
anyway...
yeah the dragon would have been cool...yeah a more open ended plot would have been nice...personally i wanted a more "mundane" feel to the quests...seems they only left a handful in the game that aren't revolving around the main plot....and yes kids sporting my hairstyle and trying to be like me would have been cool...but its no big deal.
Great game

Great game
My wife has it and is enjoying it, but I'm not a fan.
I don't like the fact you're confined to paths, and I hate the interaction between characters. That flapping jaw business was old like 8 years ago. They could have bought a piece of software for about $5000 that would have solved real mouth shapes in real-time within their engine. Not a lot of money for what they would have gotten out of it.
I don't know, my beefs are mostly due to knowing how the game was made, and how it could have easily been made better. It's definitely a solid game, but it wasn't worth playing for me.

I also have purchased this game. Let me say that I thought it was alot of fun. The combat was a bit weak in areas and I wish the towns people had more interactions with your character. I liked the fact that the game didn't require alot of thought. Personally, sometimes I'm in the mood for a game that just doesn't require alot of thought process. I've played through twice--once Good and once Bad.
Plus I got lots of action from the ladies(something sorely lacking in rl)

And Considering the amout of time they had to put it together you'd think something like that would have been fixedX'an Shin wrote: That flapping jaw business was old like 8 years ago. Heck if it wasn't for Galaxies I would play nothing but console games. I have an X-Box and between my two brother we have the Game Cube, PS2, Dream Cast, Saturn, N64, and the Super NES.Jabe Adaks wrote:People still play consoles games?

I actually liked it a lot. Not enough to plunk $50 down for though. It's too short. I rented it from Blockbuster a couple weekends ago and beat it in about two days.
From everything I'd read or heard about Fable (dating all the way back to the "Project Ego" presentation I attended when I used to work for GameStop), I always assumed that it wasn't going to fully live up to expectations. In every dev interview, game synopsis, and trade show display, it always struck me as overly ambitious. I thought they were really reaching for some of the things they wanted to implement and a lot of stuff just wasn't going to make it.
But actually, that's the way it is with 80% of games published.
In the end I liked it, but I thought they really could've at least made it far more open-ended like Morrowind (still my favorite non-MMO RPG), rather than as short and straighforward as it was. Even though you could still play on after you beat it, there just wasn't really anything to do after the credits rolled, except maybe try to bag every chick in the game, or experiment with man-love.
I tell you what though, I thought Fable was what KOTOR should've been. I never understood why anyone liked KOTOR, because I thought it was slow-paced, boring, and had a lousy battle system. I felt way more like a Jedi in Fable laying waste with my uber sword, using force knockdown, and shooting lighting out my hand. Even the way the game measured your level of "good" or "bad" seemed better executed.
IMHO anyway.

Well KOTOR fighting system was fine in my opinion you did have to control 2 other characters and if you framed in like Fable did it would feel more like baby siting than having allies at your side. Now if KOTOR had you controling one person I would agree that the system they used would have gotin in the way but they didn't.

I was angry...at the end you have to wait through 15 min of credits and if you hit one single button you cannot keep playing BUT if you watch all 15 min you get to roam around the realm and do whatever. damn button...

Everyone else I talk to about Fable always tells me how uber that sword was. I'm starting to get the impression that I'm the only person on earth who spared the girl's life at the end.
